First Chrysler teamed up with Sirius to put kids channels into minivans. Now BMW is launching a new multimedia entertainment system equipped with a 20 GB hard drive that can download movies and TV shows from a home computer when it’s parked in the garage. On the road, the mobile DVR can download content from a satellite link or cell phone network. BMW is working on a prototype of the system for its X5 SUV, but it may be years before its commercially deployed, according to Wired. Licensing and trademark snafus and an unwillingness by content providers to supply the service are the current obstacles.

Edward Mallory, 76, who played Dr. Bill Horton on NBC’s Days of Our Lives for 14 years passed away last Wednesday after a long illness. Edward appeared on the NBC soap from 1966 to 1980. In addition, he joined the Frostburg State University faculty as artist-in-residence in 2004 where he taught writing, acting and directing and supervised student-produced documentary films.

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

ABC and Room 403 Productions are developing a new clip show and are in need of out-takes and bloopers from local newscasts or magazine shows as well as local commercials. To submit a segment, call 323-957-8794 or email: [email protected].

HBO‘s drama pilot True Blood has added Stephen Moyer to the cast, joining the previously announced Anna Paquin, says Hollywood Reporter.  The story is about a time when vampire roam the population of a small Louisiana town, able now to purchase and be sustained on synthetic blood.  Moyer plays a vampire, and Paquin a waitress in the local diner who also has a talent for reading people’s minds.  The pilot is based on the book series, Southern Vampire, written by Charlaine Harris.

Mario Lopez has joined the cast of CW‘s comedy pilot Eight Days a Week from Hazy Mills and CBS Paramount Network TV, along with Christina Milian.  The set up is four twentysomethings living in NYC and work as assistants to high powered bosses – Lopez plays one of the bosses; Milian one of the assistants.

Elsewhere at the CW, comedy pilot Hell on Earth, also from CBS Paramount Network TV, has added Kyla Pratt to the lineup.  The story is about Pratt and others who have died and sent to Hell.  The only problem is Hell is pretty full, so the dead are sent back to earth to fulfill their Hell obligation, and are sent back to live in circumstances that will make their lives a living hell.

CBS‘ comedy pilot project Atlanta starring Freddie Prinze Jr., has added Leslie Bibb to the cast.  The project is from CBS Paramount Network TV.
