Turner’s President of Ad Sales Donna Speciale received the 2018 Groundbreaker Award at the Annual Cynopsis Measurement & Data Conference in New York City.
Speciale oversees all advertising revenue for the Turner’s domestic entertainment, news and kids multi-media brands. In addition, she’s a leader for the multi-company lead initiative, Open AP, the consortium set up to help advance audience buying by standardizing how clients define target markets and by providing post-campaign analyses that show the effectiveness of data-driven campaigns.
Speciale joined Turner in 2012 as president of Turner Entertainment and Young Adult Ad Sales, where she had a significant impact on the business as she redefined the client partnership model, maximizing potential revenue for brands with a collaborative and creative approach to integrated deals using Turner’s portfolio of assets. She was promoted to her current role in 2014, and has further re-imagined how Turner collaborates with marketers and agencies utilizing advanced data and content capabiltiies. During a time of vast industry change and clutter, partners have thrived in spaces like content development, social amplification and audience targeting.
In addition to her professional accolades and active participation, Speciale is on the Board of Directors for The Advertising Club of New York and an active member of Advertising Women of New York (AWNY) and the Video Advertising Bureau (VAB).
Speciale is being recognized for not only leading the charge in data, but for being among the first to recognize the need to improve the audience experience, taking action like cutting back on commercials and pushing for better storytelling. “We think Donna is the perfect choice to receive this award, coming as it does at a point when the accuracy and prescience of her vision is increasingly becoming apparent,” says Cynopsis Editorial Director Lynn Leahey.
