UPN’s Amish in the City averaged a 1.6/5, though posted 7 shares among key women demos.   NBC turned on the heat at 9pm with its Siegfried & Roy special delivering 4.7/13, and increasing to a 5.9/15 among W18-49. ABC and CBS were tied for second, each with a 7 share.  UPN’s The Player had its season finale, posting a mediocre 0.9/2, though doubling its share among W18-34. CBS held top dog rights at 10p with a repeat of CSI Miami earning a 3.5/10, a share point ahead of NBC’s repeat of Law & Order.  The 2004 World Music Awards on ABC averaged a 2.6/7 from 9-11p.

Tonight’s Premieres:
NBC: Third Watch at 9pm
WB:  What I Like About You at 8p, Grounded for Life at 830p, Reba at 9p

Casting / Development / Production:

  • Two new projects being developed for Fox – both with government pulls.  The first focuses on a family from a small midwestern town where mom has just been elected to the Senate (from producers Gretchen Berg and Aaron Harberts). The other is a cat and mouse caper dramedy called The Honorable and the Mrs. (20th Century Fox), wherein she’s a CIA Agent and her cover is as wife to the US Ambassador to the United Nations.  Written by Amy Harris (S#x and the City), with producer Sean Bailey and director Shawn Levy.
  • In development at the WB is a comedy based on the Broadway play Matt and Ben, produced by Carsey-Werner,  Matt and Ben is about a pair of writers, Mindy Kaling and Brenda Withers, who imagine what it would be like if they wrote their own Good Will Hunting film, a la Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. The WB project is tentatively called Mindy and Brenda and will be written by the real Mindy and Brenda.

National Geographic Channel launched their newest series on Wednesday evening, September 15, and MegaStructures delivered a .58 HH rating, with a .35 rating among A25-54.  That marks the highest rating ever for NGC for a series in both household numbers and A25-54.

As the UK’s Sky One, a non-terrestrial channel, continues to add to its roster of American shows which already includes Nip/Tuck, The Shield and 24, Sony Pictures TV International has cleared Rescue Me with the channel.  Rescue Me airs in the US on F/X starring Dennis Leary.  The show is scheduled to launch there in first quarter 2005.

Clear Channel Radio (CCR) will convert 20-25 of its owned radio stations of various market sizes to Hispanic formats under a new Spanish-language program initiative spanning over the next year and a half.  More stations will follow.  With this announcement comes the hiring of Spanish-language radio veteran Alfredo Alonso as SVP of Hispanic Radio (a new position) to lead the plan.  The change includes more Spanish-language programming choice, availability and regional modifications for current CCR markets with Hispanic radio and programming introduction in new markets.  The first station, Atlanta’s VIVA (WWVA 105.3/WVWA 105.1) will mainly air Spanish contemporary music.  CCR currently has Spanish-language programming on 18 stations nationwide.
