Cynopsis
09/15/06
Good morning. It’s Friday, September 15, 2006, and this is your first early morning briefing.
The star of A&E’s Dog the Bounty Hunter, Duane Dog Chapman, his son and his colleague Tim Chapman (no relation) were arrested in Hawaii yesterday on charges of illegal detention and conspiracy in connection to Dog’s capture of a fugitive three years ago. In 2003, the three captured Max Factor heir Andrew Luster in Mexico. Luster had fled the US while he was on trial for the rape of three women. At the time, Mexican authorities arrested Dog, his son and colleague for detaining Luster, and for not turning Luster over to them. The three posted bail, and did not return to Mexico for their court hearing. All three are now in a Hawaiian prison awaiting extradition to Mexico.
Tonight’s Premiere:
A&E: MI-5 at 10p

This season the series will feature more female murderers, include more behind the scenes investigation using 911 tapes and interrogation room footage, as well as include more interviews with the families and and even the accused women. Snapped is created and executive produced by Jupiter Entertainment.
Corkscrewed: The Wrath of Grapes is a new reality series on the Fox Reality Channel set to debut on November 22. The Tribune Company will sell WLVI/Boston (CW affiliate) to Sunbeam Television Corp. for $113.7 million. The deal still needs approval by Tribune’s board of directors and the normal regulatory approval. This is part of Tribune’s plan, set forth on May 30, to sell off at least $500 million in assets.
Comcast and CBS Corporation have a deal to make eight of CBS’ primetime series available through Comcast’s ON DEMAND service. The program will be free to Comcast’s digital cable subscribers in the US who subscribe to ON DEMAND. The VOD offerings will include CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York, Survivor, NCIS, Numb3rs, and Big Brother, and the new freshman series Jericho. Originally, the two companies were offering the same shows at a 99 cent per episode download cost in CBS owned-and-operated station markets. In this new arrangement, the CBS shows will contain paid commercials sold by CBS. Each episode will be available to consumers the day after their network airing and remain accessible for four weeks.

RE: DISCONTINUE EMAILS TO THE EDITOR
Cyn,
I’ve enjoyed reading your daily e-mail immensely over the past year. It is a thoughtful, humorous inside look at the industry. Extremely well written, and always insightful. Regarding the recent posting of “E-Mails to the Editor” at the bottom of your e-mail – to me, it really brings down the overall quality. It sours the end of what had been a pleasant reading experience. A well-placed link for the reader to see them on your website as an option is all you need.
Please stop adding people’s personal agendas to what is has always been classy piece of writing.
