NBC locked in a dozen or more advertisers so far who have ponied up $3 million per 30-second ad for Super Bowl XLIII from Tampa. Additionally, NBC has sold more than 80% of available ad inventory. In comparison, FOX got $2.7 million per spot for the 2008 Super Bowl. Advertisers for this next Super Bowl will include automotive, movie studios and beverage companies, as usual.

Comedy Central’s Daily Show with Jon Stewart released audience numbers from its coverage of the Democratic National and Republican National Conventions. The Daily Show averaged 1.7 million total viewers and 1.1 million A18-49 viewers over the two weeks of coverage (Tuesday-Friday each week). Specifically, the Daily Show averaged 1.5 million total viewers and 1.0 million A18-49 viewers during the DNC, then up for the RNC with an average of 1.8 million total viewers and 1.1 million A18-49 viewers.

TV One is adding the 1990s sitcom Living Single to its primetime lineup and kicking things off with Living Single: The Reunion Show airing September 22 at 7p. The special will reunite cast members as they join together to reminisce about the show. Following this the network will air a week-long marathon of Living Single episodes from September 22-26. The show will then be anchored in its regular time slot of weeknights at 830p and 9p starting September 29.

MTV, its college network mtvU and HP are collaborating on a new original, short-form series called Engine Room which will chronicle 16 young digital artists, divided into four teams, at work in a Brooklyn loft developing cutting edge HP computer products. The series will air in the US on mtvU, internationally on MTV channels and online in nine languages at www.mtvengineroom.com .

~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~

In a new reality series, VH1 will help Antonio Sabato Jr. find his true love, reports Variety. The as-yet-named series from Ish Entertainment will follow Antonio as he searches for Ms. Right. This project is part of Ish’s first-look agreement with MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo and will be shot in a docu-soap style featuring narration from Antonio. Production will start later this year.

Based on the success of The Real Housewives of Orange County and its various spinoffs, Bravo is developing a new docu-soap version using 18-25 year olds from Orange County, per THR. Casting has started for the series with production slated for this fall.

D S Simon Productions is teaming with Lauren Fix, aka “The Car Coach” to produce a new automotive lifestyle show for Lifetime Television called Female Driven. The show will also be pitched to local and national stations around the country. Female Driven will cover major new car shows and automotive issues from a female perspective.

Discovery Channel announced it will debut its new series Toughest Race on Earth: Iditarod one week later than originally planned, now airing on October 14 at 10p.

As reported just a month ago, and it’s now official, Jeff Foxworthy will be the host of the syndicated version of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader from Mark Burnett Productions and Zoo Prods, and distributed by Twentieth Television.  The daytime strip is scheduled to launch in Fall 2009.

Casting Call: Casting directors from Bunim/Murray Productions are looking for seven new participants for the 22nd season of MTV’s The Real World.  Auditions will be held in the next several weeks in Boston, Dallas, Fort Collins, Ann Arbor, Charlotte and Tampa. Applicants who are 18-24 years old must bring a recent photo (which will not be returned), as well as a photo ID.  All applicants must have a great personality and for this new season, casting directors are looking for participants with leadership experience (such as camp counselor, job manager, student government), musical talent, experienced travelers who speak Spanish, athletes (especially water sports) and those with lifesaving skills (lifeguard, EMT). These extra skills are considered a bonus and not necessary to apply. Those interested in applying online can visit www.bunim-murray.com for complete details.

Puf’n’stuf, is in the works at Sony, according to the report. … On a very weird beach around Dead Man’s Point, where there are haunted sea caves they say and strange sea monsters have been sighted there.
