Good Morning.  It’s Friday, October 26, 2007 and this is your first early morning briefing.

Orders for additional scripts on two series — ABC‘s Dirty S#xy Money, and CW‘s Reaper both got the call for more pages.  Reaper is from The Mark Gordon Co and ABC Studios; Dirty S#xy Money is also from ABC Studios and Bad Hat Harry Prods.  This past Wednesday night at 10p Money delivered a 3.2/8 in the A18-49 demo and 8.6 million viewers.

Tonight’s Premieres:
BET J: Living the Life of Marley at 10p
Sunday’s Premieres:
PBS: Nature: Silence of the Bees (check local listings for exact air time)

Discovery Channel is giving viewers a second chance to see the award-winning 11-part series Planet Earth next month after debuting it last spring. The network will rerun the hi-def series with two episodes each night for six weeks starting November 11 at 8p.

TV Guide Network has picked up the repurposing rights of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, airing the show at 7pm, less than 24 hours after the original, reports THR. And if you hadn’t noticed, this all started this past Monday.  Can’t say why TV Guide did this so quietly.

Discovery Communications tapped Andy Friendly to develop and executive produce a new series for Planet Green, Discovery’s new environmentally-focused channel that will debut next year. Andy, who is President of Andy Friendly Productions and producer and originator of Entertainment Tonight, will also consult on programming and production for Planet Green.
Lauren Ashburn, Executive Producer of USA TODAY Live, the television production division of USA TODAY, has been given the go-ahead to produce three new series:

  • 10 Great Reasons – an eight-episode weekly music/pop culture countdown series for fuse
  • Gotta Get Gold – a 10-episode preview series about the lives and training of Olympic athletes participating in the upcoming Beijing 2008 games for MOJO
  • City Limits – a six-episode urban fishing show that features the waters close to major U.S. cities for Versus

Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) signed a new three-year extension of their current partnership, keeping Spike TV as the basic cable home to the UFC through 2011. Other highlights of the deal include: seasons 9 through 12 of the reality series The Ultimate Fighter; Spike TV will telecast four UFC Fight Nights per year – 12 total live fight cards; two seasons of a new weekly live fight series with details to be announced later; and 39 one-hour episodes of UFC Unleashed hosted by Mike Goldberg.

AMC is on track in developing a sci fi horror series called 99 Stories, developed and written by David Seltzer, reports THR.  The story is set in a brand new high rise building with … you guessed it … 99 stories.  A group of people are invited to come and tour the high-tech building, but once inside they cannot leave.  Instead, at the mercy of some sort of electronic brain that controls the entire building, they are forced to complete challenges – one for every floor, and those who complete it successfully move up to the next floor.
