~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~ More political ratings gold: NBC’s Meet the Press this past Sunday morning, featuring Colin Powell’s anticipated endorsement of Sen. Barack Obama, averaged 6 million viewers along with a national 4.3/12 HH rating. This was the largest audience for Meet the Press since February 8, 2004 when the late Tim Russert interviewed President George W. Bush. Also on October 19, ABC’s This Week pulled in nearly 3.4 million viewers and CBS’ Face the Nation had close to 2.9 million viewers. For political junkies wanting to watch multiple news updates on election night, November 4, DirecTV offers a special Election Mix Channel, cites Variety. DirecTV will spotlight election coverage from ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, Fox News Channel, MSNBC as well as alternating feeds from Comedy Central and BBC America. Eight networks will be on screen simultaneously and viewers will select one to hear audio and also have the option to go full screen with any one network. DirecTV will broadcast Election Mix Channel in both hi-def and standard def beginning 7p on November 4 until 6a November 5. DirecTV offers a similar interactive service for its sports programs. CBS will give frosh comedy Gary Unmarried a shot in the arm by re-airing the pilot episode next Monday at 930p, replacing Worst Week, says THR and Live Feed. The network is hoping the higher rated Two and a Half Men will give the new sitcom a viewer boost. Wednesday’s night’s Gary Unmarried averaged 7.8 million viewers and posted a 2.5/7 among A18-49. Telemundo announced it will repurpose the telenovela Sin Senos no Hay Paraiso on the Mun2 cable network beginning next January, according to Multichannel News. This move comes after the series has done well with younger viewers on Telemundo averaging approximately 1.2 million A18-49 viewers this month, representing a 162% audience bump compared to October 2007. Correction: Fox Reality Channel’s season two of My Bare Lady 2: Open for Business will follow the four adult film stars as they attempt to manage a business. The reality series opens November 8 at 10p with eight 30m episodes. A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM THE N THE N is #1 with TEEN GIRLS! ~ DISTRIBUTION, CLEARANCE & CARRIAGE ~ Hallmark Channel acquired the rights to a multitude of family-friendly films from Twentieth Television. The movie package, totaling 80 titles, will be programmed on Hallmark Channel as well as Hallmark Movie Channel and title examples include Big, Cheaper by the Dozen, My Cousin Vinny, Waitress, to the world television premiere of Young at Heart. Outdoor Channel will gain a packaging improvement from Comcast Corporation starting November 4. Outdoor Channel will be moved from the sports and entertainment tier to a position on the digital classics tier on most Comcast Digital Cable systems in Colorado. The network estimates this elevation could equal 250,000 in additional subscribers. Retro Television Network (RTN) will launch on WRCB-DT in Chattanooga on November 1. MSNBC will be the last of the three cable news networks to premiere a hi-def version, reports Multichannel News. Originally planning an HD launch this fourth quarter and missing that opportunity for the highly competitive election season, MSNBC says it will have its hi-def simulcast ready to launch in second quarter 2009. CNN launched its hi-def version in September 2007 and Fox News Channel followed suit this past May. ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~ SCI FI Channel approved a pilot for a new series based on the network’s Ghost Hunters franchise from Pilgrim Films and Television. Ghost Hunters: College Edition (wt) follows college students and a team of experienced investigators as they search for supernatural hot spots throughout the U.S. and the world. E! will keep comedienne/author Chelsea Handler in her late-night place as the network okayed new episodes of the comedy talk show Chelsea Lately through 2009. Chelsea Lately airs weeknights at 1130p. HBO is taking Curb Your Enthusiasm back into production this December for a seventh season. Ten new 30m episodes will be ready to debut in 2009. The comedy completed its sixth season, headlined by Larry David and Cheryl Hines, in November 2007. Casting Call: ABC’s The Bachelorette is seeking the next bachelorette to star in a new installment of the reality series where one female gets to choose her true love from among 25 eligible and handsome bachelors. Female applicants must possess intelligence, beauty, charm, style and a winning personality.
