Disney Interactive launches the new short form online animated video series, Disney Where’s My Water? Presents: Swampy’s Underground Adventures (12 episodes), at Disney.com and Disney’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/disneyshows. Disney also unveils plan to premiere the short form series on Disney Channel beginning this November 2012. Swampy’s Underground Adventures follows the humorous adventures of Swampy, Disney’s first original mobile character and star of its mobile franchise Where’s My Water?, which launched in September 2011. The series also marks the first production from Disney Interactive’s collaboration with YouTube to offer original family-friendly video series to the web. The 12 episodes of Swampy’s Underground Adventures will launch weekly. Disney will support the launch of Swampy’s Underground Adventures by featuring episodes on in-store screens in 175 Disney Stores in the US tomorrow, Saturday, October 20, where there will be Where’s My Water? giveaways at each location.
SpongeBob SquarePants splashes onto CBS with the new stop-motion animated holiday special, It’s A SpongeBob Christmas!, based on Nickelodeon‘s animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, Friday, November 23 at 9:30p. The half-hour special is the first stop-motion animated SpongeBob SquarePants project, and is inspired by the popular song, Don’t be a Jerk, It’s Christmas, by Tom Kenny (aka the voice of SpongeBob) and Andy Paley. The special finds Plankton on a quest to get his Christmas wish obtaining Krusty Krab’s secret Krabby Patty recipe – by turning everyone bad in Bikini Bottom.
LICENSING
Zodiak Kids has appoints Fusion as the licensing agent for Australia and New Zealand for its CGI animated preschool series Tickety Toc. Fusion will be joining Zodiak Kids London & Paris and the other international agents for Tickety Toc, including Established Brands (US) and Studio Licensing (Canada).
Entertainment One (eOne) announces a new Peppa Pig toy deal for the Benelux. eOne’s third party agent License Connection has brokered a three-year deal with Blue Ocean Toys to manufacture and distribute toys from Character Options’ Peppa Pig toy line and products, which will debut in the region in spring 2013. Peppa Pig can be seen in the Benelux on Nickelodeon.

MARKETING
The Pear Bureau Northwest and LazyTown are partnering for a promotion that will feature the kid-targeted, healthy lifestyle choice-centric series at grocery stores nationwide. The promotion is made possible by The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) newly awarded specialty crop grant of $75,000 to the Pear Bureau Northwest to promote USA Pears. For the promotion, the Pear Bureau has developed custom point of sale materials, including floor signs, channel cards with tear-off recipe pads, and life-size standees for retail promotions. The partnership includes appearances by LazyTown’s main character, Sportacus, at select schools and retailers. Earlier this year Cartoon Network Enterprises signed on to serve as the licensing agent for the LazyTown brand in the US, an extension of the acquisition of LazyTown by the Turner CN Enterprises division.
Emma Stone (The Help, Easy A) makes a cameo appearance on a new episode of iCarly this Saturday, October 20, at 8p on Nickelodeon. In iCarly’s iFind Spencer Friends, Stone plays Heather, an iCarly ultimate fan that group meets as they work to find Spencer friends his own age. The evening also features back-to-back new episodes of Victorious (8:30p), Big Time Rush (9p) and How To Rock! (9:30p). The new episode of Victorious features a music performance of the new song L.A. Boyz by Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande. The track is on the new Victorious 3.0: Even More Music From The Hit TV Show CD, which available for pre-order now at http://smarturl.it/victorious3.0 and in stores November 6, 2012.
The new animated series Littlest Pet Shop premieres on The Hub TV Network with two back-to-back episodes on Saturday, November 10, 2012, 11a-12p. Also that morning, the network will also debut the third season of the animated series My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, also with two episodes, 10-11a. Both programs are Hub original series that are produced by Hasbro Studios. For fans that want to host at-home premiere parties for the My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and Littlest Pet Shop they can downloadable Playdate Premiere party packs, including invites, coloring sheets, and suggested activities, which will be available at www.hubworld.com. Additionally, for the first time, The Hub will release new digital content for My Little Pony Friendship is Magic including brand new games, printables and videos every week of the season on hubworld.com.
Mia and me gets a new season. m4e and Hahn Film unveils plans for season two of 26 episodes of the mixed live-action/CG-animated series Mia and me (www.mia-and-me.com). Lucky Punch, a joint venture of m4e and Hahn Film, will helm the production, in co-production with Rainbow and March Entertainment. The new season is slated to deliver in 2014/2015.
Zodiak Kids inks new deals of its CGI animated preschool series Tickety Toc in Australia. Network 10 (Australia) acquires the rights to Tickety Toc (52×11), which it plans to launch this winter, with Beyond Home Entertainment picking up the DVD rights to the series. Tickety Toc launched on Nick Jr. in Australia in May 2012, and in July in New Zealand. Zodiak Kids control all worldwide rights for Tickety Toc excluding Korea and Japan.
India-based animation studio DQ Entertainment (DQE) completes new production, distribution and licensing deals coming out of Mipcom 2012, which it predicts altogether will bring in upwards of $6 million in revenue over the next two years. Various deals include:
– DQE and Foothill Europe are teaming to develop, co-produce and distribute the animated buddy comedy Raz & Benny, which has a worldwide budge of $7 million, and also includes exploitation of ancillary rights.
– DQE and France’s Method Animation are set to co-produce a third season of the 3D animated TV series The Little Prince, for a budge of about $9.1 million.
– ATV Turkey signs on to co-produce the new 3D animated TV series Robin Hood-Mischief In Sherwood (52×11), with co-production partners DQE with Method Animation. ATV will have exclusive free TV, pay TV, VOD, pay per view, Web TV, IPTV, Home Video rights, merchandising, licensing and publishing rights for Turkey. Also newly acquiring the new Robin Hood series is Global TV (Indonesia) and Workpoint Entertainment Public Company (Thailand).
– In other acquisitions from DQE: Global TV (Indonesia) takes Galactick Football, The New Adventures of Lassie & Friends, Tara Duncan, and Feluda (series and 1×60 TV movie); Workpoint Entertainment Public Company (Thailand) picks up The New Adventure of Lassie & Friends, Iron Man season 2, The New Adventures of Peter Pan, and Charlie Chaplin; Al Jazeera’s kid-aimed JCCTV (22 Arabic nations) taking The New Adventures of Lassie & Friends, 5 & IT, The New Adventures of Peter Pan, and Charlie Chaplin; while Cheers Media (Vietnam) takes the home video distribution rights for Charlie Chaplin.
Breakthrough Entertainment‘s digital media division has begun production on a series of three online games for the new animated series Rocket Monkeys, which is set to premiere in 2013 on Teletoon Canada. All three Rocket Monkeys Online games, Monkeys vs. Gorillas, Monkey Business and Monkeys on a Mission, will be available in English and French on www.teletoon.com. The first game, Monkeys vs Gorillas, will launch in January 2013 simultaneous to the series premiere, and the other two games will roll out during the first season. Breakthrough’s digital media arm received funding for Rocket Monkeys Online from the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund and the Shaw Rocket Fund‘s Digital Stream.
Sesame Workshop and Impelsys, a provider of electric content delivery solutions, launch the new Sesame Street Elmo Story Collection app for iPad ($1.99). The new app feature six Elmo titles, including audio eBooks, two of which exclusive. Designed to support early reading skills, the Elmo Story Collection app includes two specific features that help users follow along with the narrator, text highlighting in the audio books, and there is also an auto play feature that turns pages. In addition, each title includes book-specific reading tips, which help extend learning with activities and critical thinking skill building. The Elmo Story Collection app is comprised of the following book titles: Tickle Me, My Name Is Elmo (audio eBook); Elmo and His Friends (audio eBook, exclusive); Monster can Share (audio eBook, exclusive); Elmo’s ABC Book; Counting with Elmo; and Mommy Loves Elmo. The new Elmo app for the iPad is an extension of the Sesame Street eBookstore, a website (ebooks.sesamestreet.org) and app, offering unlimited access to a library of 160+ Sesame Street eBooks with a monthly or yearly subscription. The Elmo Story Collection does not require a Sesame Street eBookstore subscription and once downloaded is accessible without an Internet connection.
