Cynopsis: Kids!
11.30.12

Good morning. It’s Friday, November 30, 2012, and this is your first early morning briefing.

Walt Disney Animation Studios taps writer/director Jennifer Lee – she was one of the screenwriters on the studio’s Wreck-It-Ralph – to join already named director Chris Buck, as director on its new animated feature film Frozen, which releases November 27, 2013. The comedy features the voices of Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel. Currently in production, Frozen is set in a kingdom caught in an eternal winter and follows Anna, a fearless optimist, who teams with mountain man Kristoff and his reindeer pal Sven as they go in search of Anna’s sister Elsa, the Snow Queen, to get her to end her icy spell. Lee’s big screen adaptation of John Steinbeck’s The Acts of King Arthur and His Noble Knights is being produced by Troika Pictures. She also has an original screenplay in development with Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way, and her original script Lucid Dreams was optioned by Wolfgang Peterson’s Radiant Productions. Buck previously co-directed Disney’s Tarzan and Sony Pictures Animation’s Surf’s Up, as well as working on other animated pictures such as The Little Mermaid, The Rescuers Down Under and Pocahontas. Frozen is being produced by Peter Del Vecho, and will feature original songs by Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez (In Transit).
