Good morning. It’s Friday, November 21, 2008, and this is your first early morning briefing. Tonight’s Premiere: Tonight’s Finale: Saturday’s Premiere: Saturday’s Finales: Sunday’s Finales: ~ MORE GOOD STUFF ~
The CW announced it is cancelling its Sunday night time-buy agreement with Media Rights Capital (MRC) and taking the four shows supplied by MRC off the schedule effective November 30. The network will insert the cancelled CBS series, Jericho on Sundays at 7p followed by a movie package acquired from MGM. Prior to primetime on Sundays, The CW will air Everybody Hates Chris and The Game between 5-6p and encore episodes of The Drew Carey Show from 6-7p. This schedule is expected to stay put through the end of this season, giving The CW more time to consider alternatives for Sunday nights. Originally, the MRC deal for shows, 4Real, In Harm’s Way, Valentine and Easy Money was intended to boost Sunday nights by bringing in revenue and breathe new life into the struggling night, thus allowing The CW to concentrate on pumping up other nights. The CW was prompted to end the MRC deal after MRC failed to keep payments to The CW current in addition to the low Sunday night ratings. In a letter to affiliates, The CW’s John Maatta, COO, said: “The MRC shows are simply not working. To that end, we have made a business and programming decision to protect our network and your local interests on Sunday for the remainder of the season.” Next Tuesday at 10p, Starz will premiere a new series exploring the links between Hollywood and the fashion industry with Starz Inside: Fashion in Film. The series will reveal how integral fashion is to celebrities and a movie’s story and how fashions on the silver screen translate to the pages of fashion magazines. CBS will extend the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show event to multiple platforms. The special will be televised on CBS December 3 at 10p yet can be previewed prior on the special dedicated website at www.cbs.com/victoria with videos, photos and more. CBS.com will also host a Social Viewing Room where the complete fashion show can be viewed following the broadcast at www.cbs.com/socialviewing. In addition, CBS Mobile is working with MediFLO USA allowing a Victoria’s Secret TV channel on FLO TV. A&E Network slated the premiere of its original scripted drama series The Beast, starring Patrick Swayze and Travis Fimmel for January 15 at 10p. The series is about Swayze, a hard-core veteran FBI agent, who works with a rookie partner (Fimmel) teaching him his unorthodox agent skills. A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM OXYGEN

Debmar-Mercury obtained the premiere broadcast syndication rights to E!’s docu-series True Hollywood Story, making select archived episodes available to TV stations as a one-hour daily strip beginning fall 2009. True Hollywood Story has been on the air for more than ten years and next year the series will reach its 500th episode. ~ PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT ~
In a rather strange move, Food Network is bringing back Robert Irvine former star of Dinner: Impossible to star again in the same show, according to the AP. Earlier this year, Irvine was fired from the show when it was revealed he had exaggerated information on his resume. Production is starting this month on six new episodes starring Irvine and are expected to air next March. SCI FI Channel and gaming publisher/developer, Trion World Network (Trion) are collaborating on a new combo video game and television show. Kevin Beardslee was hired by Trion in its San Diego studio as Senior Development Director and Peter Egan was pegged to write the pilot episode. Exploding on the television screen next January will be Discovery Channel’s latest series The Detonators, per Reuters/THR. The 13-episode series follows two explosive experts, Dr. Braden Lusk and Dr. Paul Worsey as they discuss demolition projects with the blasters. Episodes will spotlight two demolition projects with something in common such as exploding the Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christie, TX and huge cranes in Liverpool, England both made of steel, for instance. ~ ELSEWHERE IN CYNOPSIS ~
CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: RIM unveils its answer to the iPhone today for Verizon Wireless in the U.S. – the BlackBerry Storm. A touchscreen sacrifices the signature BlackBerry keyboard in order to deliver widescreen-format video. (We’re not sure how “CrackBerry” purists will feel about the loss of a real keypad, but RIM had to do something to make room for the 3.25″ screen.) The Storm comes standard with a 3.2 megapixel camera, built-in GPS and a video recording application – immediately raising its profile as a legitimate multimedia device. On the negative side it lacks Wi-Fi capability, meaning you’re stuck with Verizon’s 3G network. What will ultimately determine its success is the quality of the applications made for the phone. BlackBerry plans to launch an App store of its own in March of 2009 and is currently courting developers to encourage them to create interesting applications for the phone. For instance SlingPlayer is expected to launch soon for the device. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: Chorion inks an exclusive long-term deal with Microsoft to launch its Time for a Story, a new online interactive storytelling application that encourages parents to spend time with their preschoolers even if they aren’t in the same place. Microsoft is offering Time for a Story to its UK users of Windows Live Messenger. Launching this week with three classic Noddy stories, the Time for a Story application was developed by Chorion and the online agency Digital Outlook. Full edition: CYN KIDS. CYNOPSIS INTERNATIONAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: The U.S.’ International Networks is launching two German TV networks on Verizon‘s FiOS TV service. Deutsche Welle and ProSiebenSat.1 Welt have launched on FiOS TV in Maryland, Virginia and southeastern Pennsylvania and will join Verizon’s other FiOS TV markets in the near future. The general entertainment networks will be sold together in a package for $14.99 per month. Full edition: CYN INTERNATIONAL. ~ RATINGS ~
