Evolution, a licensing and brand management company, and indie producer CCI Entertainment partner to co-develop the new animated series Taffy Saltwater, created by Michael Paraskevas (creator, with his mom Betty, of Maggie and the Ferocious Beast) and Judy Paraskevas. Under their partnership, Evolution will provide all licensing and retail development functions worldwide for the property, and CCI Entertainment will work with Evolution to guide brand development as well as executive produce and distribute the series. Targeted to K4-8, the series revolves around Taffy Saltwater, a lively girl with endless imagination and a colorful storyteller, and her beach pals. The series aims to encourage imaginative play and models writing skills through stories and characters, with a goal of getting kid viewers to write stories about themselves and share them via their own blogs, with the best weekly blog featured on the series’ website. The series is currently slated for a 2014 TV launch. Taffy Saltwater will debut as a hardcover picture book in spring 2013, under a new deal with Michael Paraskevas and Random House Children’s Publishing, packaged by Fonda Snyder under her company Alchemy Ink. Evolution will unveil Taffy Saltwater at Licensing Expo 2012 in Las Vegas next week.
