9 Story Entertainment taps PR agency Child’s Play Communications to create a social media outreach campaign to build brand awareness for 9 Story’s animated TV series Almost Naked Animals and its new lines of related licensed products. Produced and distributed by 9 Story Entertainment, Almost Naked Animals is currently in its third season. The series continues to air on Cartoon Network (US), YTV (Canada), CiTV (UK), ABC (Australia) as well as on Disney Channels in Italy, India, Latin America, Spain and Portugal, and NPO’s kid’s channel Z@pp/Zeppelin (Netherlands), Super RTL (Germany), Canal+ Family and Teletoon+.
Two of Sesame Workshop‘s Mandarin-language series, the popular Chinese-produced Sesame Street’s Big Bird Look at the World, and the new series Fun Fun Elmo, will both debut in the US on SinoVision (www.sinovision.net), a Chinese language broadcaster available in NY, NJ, Connecticut, Long Island and sections of Pennsylvania. Bringing these two shows to the US is part of Sesame Workshop’s initiative to develop Chinese Culture and Language that caters to Chinese communities in the US as well as encourage Chinese cultural appreciation and exchange, using locally developed content from China. Newly developed content from Fun Fun Elmo introduces viewers to Mandarin language through new animation and live action films shot in China, underscored by music. Live action segments follow the daily lives of kids in China, while also exposing viewers to the Mandarin language, as each episode introduces a Chinese tone, word, and stroke order for writing characters. Sesame Street’s Big Bird Looks at the World focuses on kid’s natural curiosity about nature and science and encourages hands-on exploration as a great way to learn. Each episode features Muppet characters and two live-action films. The locally developed, Mandarin-language series Sesame Street’s Big Bird Looks at the World first debuted in China in December 2010, on HaHa Channel by Shanghai Toonmax Media, as well as on CCTV Children’s Channel by the national broadcaster CCTV.
Actress Amanda Plummer (The Fisher King, Pulp Fiction) joins the cast of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Lionsgate’s new movie based on Suzanne Collins’ second Hunger Games book, Catching Fire. Plummer will take on the role of Wiress, an eccentric who is nicknamed “Nuts”, who doesn’t communicate in traditional ways but her participation is invaluable in the Quarter Quell (the 75th Annual Hunger Games). Directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force with producer Jon Kilik, Lionsgate is set to release The Hunger Games: Catching Fire on November 22, 2013.
