Good morning. It’s Friday, February 11, 2011, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Little Tugboat, a new Canadian kid/family-centric production company has been set up by Brenda Nietupski, formerly Director/Programming Treehouse, Corus, and Josh Selig, Founder/President Little Airplane Productions.  Nietupski is owner, President and Director of Little Tugboat, while Selig, who has an interest in the company, serves as VP and Director.  Little Tugboat’s first project is the mixed live-action/animated preschool series The Adventures of Napkin Man.  Created by Little Airplane’s Selig and Tone Thyne, the series is in development with CBC (Canada) and is a co-venture between Breakthrough Entertainment and Little Airplane.  Little Tugboat will handle the animation on the pilot, with J.J. Johnson of Sinking Ship Entertainment directing the live-action elements.  The series features a preschool teacher, Mister Anthony, who creates the superhero Napkin Man, who in turn helps young kids learn to manage their feelings in the animated portion of the series. The curriculum for the series was created by Dr. Laura G. Brown (Ni Hao Kai Lan, The Wonder Pets).  Steven DeNure, President and COO, DHX Media, will also sit on the Little Tugboat Board of Directors as an independent member.

Friday Fun Fact:  Eleven chinchillas were brought from the Andes Mountains in South America in the 1930’s. All chinchillas presently in North America are descended from these eleven chinchillas.

Answer to Yesterday’s Trivia:  Who am I?  I’m a professor of Anthropology and while on a test flight of the X-15, to avoid a crash, I had to crash-land in Tim’s backyard.  I stayed with Tim, a very nice reporter who thankfully kept his mouth shut about me, until I was able to fix my vehicle.  Who am I? ‘UNCLE MARTIN” on MY FAVORITE MARTIAN  Kudos to: Julie Stowell-Tribune Media Services/NY; Keith Manzella-Eastwest MG/NY; Bob Friedland-Toys R Us/NY; Brad Stern/NY; Tom Boyd-WGN/Chicago; Pat Brady-CESD/LA; Richard Quan-Butler Shine Stern Partners/San Francisco; Tod Visdal-OnRequest Images/Seattle; Natalie Windsor-APTV/LA; Noreen Murphy-ACTRA/Toronto

Today’s Trivia Question:  Who am I?  I’m a puppet.  A big brown flightless bird who traveled everywhere with my “handler”.  We appeared on 70s television both here and in the UK, and even made a notable appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.  Who am I?  (Email [email protected] with your answer and be sure to include your name, company, city and time zone.
