Friday Fun Fact: The original television program The Yule Log was created in 1966 by Fred M. Thrower, President/CEO of WPIX, Inc. in New York. Fred envisioned this TV program (airing on Christmas morning and showing a crackling, cherry fireplace in a continuous 7-min. loop) as a gift to residents of New York who lived in apartments or homes without fireplaces. Fred also knew The Yule Log would allow employees of WPIX to stay home with their families on the holiday.
