Coming to TLC on August 9th is the new original series Hope for Your Home, airing at 830p. With real estate expert host Kirsten Kemp Becker, the series will take on the tough financial circumstances many homeowners are facing today, and give them critical resources to make improvements to their property. At the end of each episode, the homeowners have the option to refinance and stay in their newly renovated home, or sell the house and find something more affordable. Discovery Health will present the first of a four-part series called Body in Numbers, on Wednesday, September 3 at 9p. The series decodes the human body’s vital statistics – 1 million barrels of blood pump thru the average heart in a lifetime; fastest sneeze ever recorded was 100 miles per hour; the surface area of the human lung is equal to the size of a tennis court! Body In Numbers is produced for Discovery Health by Touch Productions LTD. Spike TV has ordered ten episodes of the half hour series 1000 Ways to Die from executive producer Thom Beers. This shocking series explores the many different and bizarre ways a person could die, highlighting of course the most outrageous true stories of deaths in the most unorthodox manners, including death by jalapeno pepper and how a simple scrape-turned-flesh-eating and in this case fatal virus. This series originally aired as a two part special in May 2008 and delivered a million total viewers. Debuting on Monday at 9pm on VH1 is Sean Combs’ latest reality series – I Want to Work for Diddy. Looking for a new personal assistant, Combs decided the best way to find just the right person, was to put out a casting call for the job. The show takes the top 13 candidates and puts them thru their paces, and a panel of judges make the eliminations each week until there is one, who wins the job. NBC has ordered a pilot of a new Dick Wolf project called Lost and Found, produced by Wolf Films. Written by Chris Levinson, the story revolves around a female homicide detective who IDs unnamed murder victims and then goes about solving their cases. Casting Note: Miami-Ft. Lauderdale’s CW affiliate, WSFL is launching a new morning show in January and they’re searching for talent. At the auditions, each participant will have 3 minutes to impress with their knowledge of news and pop culture and be humorous and engaging at the same time. CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY: As the FCC prepares to censure Comcast today for throttling its customers’ usage of peer-to-peer networks, some lawmakers are warning the agency not to overstep its bounds. In a letter addressed directly to FCC Chairman Kevin Martin, Republican minority leader Rep. John Boehner said any attempts to chastise Comcast would be akin to “regulating the internet.” He asked the agency to let the market sort out the problem. Full edition: CYN DIGITAL. CYNOPSIS KIDS – TODAY’S TOP STORY: (Now with HTML elements!) J.K. Rowling announced on her website yesterday plans for the release of The Tales of Beedle the Bard to the masses. You’ll recall that there are only six copies of the original version of the book in existence. The Tales of Beedle the Bard will be published on December 4, 2008, by Rowling’s charity, Children’s High Level Group, in an exclusive agreement with publishers Bloomsbury and Scholastic and with Amazon. All proceeds will go to the charity. There will be a regular edition ($7.59) as well as a limited number of collector’s edition ($100, which will include 10 additional illustrations not featured in the standard or even the original group of books), both of which can be pre-ordered now exclusively at Amazon. According to Rolling, “the new edition will include the Tales themselves, translated from the original runes by Hermione Granger, and with illustrations by me, but also notes by Professor Albus Dumbledore,” these notes were of course found in his papers following his death. The new Beijing-based CCTV-IMG Sports Management Company will encompass a trio of duties exclusively creating, developing and promoting sports events and TV and multimedia programming in China as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan following the upcoming Olympics. Channing Dungey elevated to SVP/Drama Development for ABC Studios, replacing Morgan Wandell, who has moved over to run development for Greg Berlanti Productions. Channing’s expanded role gives her oversight of the drama development team whose efforts have launched four seasons of hit drama programming. Victor Zaraya upped to EVP/Finance & Operations for Razor & Tie Entertainment, based at the company’s headquarters in New York City. He reports to Razor & Tie Co-Owners Cliff Chenfeld and Craig Balsam. Victor will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company and will play a key role in Razor & Tie’s growing children’s business, record label, publishing division and digital and media businesses. NBC Local Media promoted two within its sales organization–Shawn Makhijani as VP/Corporate Business Development, Local Media, and Mark Yackanich as VP/Corporate Strategy for Local Media, both reporting to Frank Comerford, President, Platform Development and Commercial Operations, NBC Local Media. Both will work across all business units within Local Media, including the television stations, digital group, Out of Home Division and LX.TV unit to help identify new growth opportunities for the organization. Shawn will lead the development and execution of transactions and partnerships that support the division’s growth and investment strategy. He will also work closely with the Local Media corporate strategy group to identify new business opportunities and possible acquisition targets. Mark will lead Local Media’s corporate strategy efforts. He will be responsible for the development and coordination of the division’s growth and investment strategy and will also focus on new platform development. Luke Ryan joined the MGM Motion Picture Group as VP/Theatrical Production. Ryan will play an integral role in the studio’s newly assembled theatrical production operation and will be responsible for overseeing the production and development of new MGM feature film projects. In addition to bringing in new material, Ryan will immediately begin working on priority projects for the studio, including Cabin in the Woods, RoboCop, Red Dawn and Hot Tub Time Machine.
