Cynopsis: Kids!
08/17/12
Good morning. It’s Friday, August 17, 2012, and this your first early morning briefing.
Canada’s CCI Entertainment inks agreements with US-based Kabillion, a K6-11/family aimed free TV VOD service, and Yoursphere Media, a kid/family social network and social media company, to launch GeoFreakz in the US on August 18, 2012. GeoFreakz is a transmedia property that includes comedic “minisodes”, an MMOG (Massive Multiplayer Online Game) and a collection of live event adventures. GeoFreakZ “minisodes” will be available on Kabillion, which reaches 40+ million households in the US, and via its online destinations (www.kabillion.com and www.kabilliongirlsrule.com). The MMOG will be hosted on www.yoursphere.com. Through a relationship with Geocaching.com, players will earn prizes by logging real world geocaches. By the way, August 18 is also International Geocaching Day. GeoFreakz currently airs on Teletoon in Canada and recently launched a national geocaching program with Parks Canada.

Cynopsis Kids PEOPLE AWARDS
Celebrating leaders & innovators in Kids TV
NominationDeadline:
October 3, 2012Awards Breakfast: December 2012
More details coming soon…
Let the voting begin! Scholastic and its Scholastic News classroom magazine have opened the polls for students to vote in the 2012 Presidential Election via its Scholastic Student Vote (www.scholastic.com/vote), which is now live. Prior to placing their vote, kids can go to the Scholastic 2012 Election (www.scholastic.com/election) site where they can find articles about the campaign, free resources, games and interactive maps to help them learn about the electoral process, as well as coverage by the Scholastic News Kid Reporters, a group of 50+ kid journalists from around the country. Coverage will continue through Election Day – Tuesday, November 6, 2012. The Scholastic Student Vote has invited kids to log their vote for president since the 1940 Presidential election, and has continued in every election year since then. Of equal importance Scholastic’s Student Vote outcome has reflected that of the General Election in every contest but two — in 1948 when kids chose Thomas E. Dewey over Harry S. Truman and in 1960 when more students voted for Richard M. Nixon than John F. Kennedy.
