Good morning. It’s Friday, April 19, 2013, and this is your first early morning Sports briefing. 

NBC Sports Group locked in a new 10-year deal with Notre Dame, which will run through the 2025 season and extends their partnership to 35 years and counting. The agreement delivers NBC Sports Group global media rights on all platforms with a minimum of seven Notre Dame home football games per year on NBC, as well as select games to run on NBC Sports Network. Meanwhile, NBC Sports Digital will continue to live stream Fighting Irish home games. The 84th annual Notre Dame Blue-Gold spring football game is slated to air on NBC Sports Network tomorrow at 1p.
 
On the Air

The NFL revealed the new schedule for the 2013-14 season, with primetime games that will kick off on September 5. Here’s the breakdown:

  • NBC Sunday Night Football: will broadcast 19 games, highlighted by: Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos hosting the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens on NFL Kickoff 2013 on Thursday, September 5 and a classic NFC East rivalry as the Dallas Cowboys host the New York Giants in the opening Sunday Night Football game on September 8.
  • The FOX schedule includes 59 games, including 10 games featuring the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. The NFC East Champion Washington Redskins, the NFC North Champion Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants each play nine games. The Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bears will appear 10 times each. The Green Bay Packers will play the 49ers in San Francisco on September 8th.
  • CBS will broadcast a total of 103 games during its 17 weeks of regular-season coverage. Pittsburgh, San Diego, Miami and Cincinnati slated for 11 appearances; Baltimore, Houston and Indianapolis set for 10 appearances; New England and Denver to make nine appearances. September 8th brings the New England Patriots to the Buffalo Bills. 
  • On September 9, ESPN has a double header: the Philadelphia Eagles versus the Washington Redskins, followed by the Houston Texans and the San Diego Chargers.

NBA Playoffs are ready to rumble with ABC set to tip off the post-season action tomorrow with the Celtics/Knicks at 3p. ABC will also showcase the Spurs/Lakers series on Sunday at 3:30. Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Heather Cox handle microphone duties for both matchups. Meanwhile, ESPN begins its playoff run with a Game 1 triple header on Saturday featuring Warriors/Nuggets at 5:30p, Bulls/Nets at 8p and Grizzlies/clippers at 10:30p.

Around the dial, TNT will handle more than 40 playoff games this year, including first and second round action and the 2013 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Coverage starts Sunday with a tripleheader pitting Hawks/Pacers at 1p, Bucks/Heat at 7p and Rockets/Thunder at 9:30p.

NBA TV will offer up 1,500 hours of playoff programming, with games that include Game 2 of the Bucks/Heat at 7:30p on Tuesday, April 23, Hawks/Pacers Game 2 on the 24 at 7:30p and Nets/Bulls Game 3 on the 25 at 8:30p. The network just wrapped up its most viewed complete regular season ever with an average of 336,000 total viewers for 98 telecasts this past season.

On the local front, MSG Network announced that it will offer game telecasts of Game 2 and Game 3 (and Games 5 and 6, if necessary) of the Knicks/Celtics Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series of the playoffs, as well as one hour exclusive postgame coverage, featuring Patrick Ewing,Bernard King and Earl Monroe following every game in the first round.

The National Women’s Soccer League and FOX Sports Media Group inked a one-year agreement to televise nine games during the league’s inaugural season. As part of the deal, FSMG will run six regular-season matches and all three playoff matches, which include the two semifinal games on August 24 and 25, as well as the championship game on August 31. Beginning July 8, FOX Soccer will televise one game per week over the final six weeks of the season, leading up to the playoffs.

In more soccer news, Wednesday’s international friendly between the Mexican National Team and the Peruvian National Team on Wednesday, April 17 on UniMas drew 1.7 Total Viewers 2+ and over 1 million Adults 18-49 to the channel, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals.

Tennis Channel hits the weekend with live coverage of the U.S. Fed Cup team’s playoff competition against Sweden in which the US team has to beat Sweden to qualify for the 2014Fed Cup tournament. Coverage will consist of two singles matches on Saturday starting at 2p, and two singles matches and a doubles match Sunday beginning at 1p.

Kickboxing league Glory Sports International found a home in CBS Sports Network, locking in a television deal that begins with Saturday’s GLORY 7 event in Italy, according to the organization. Other action will include a May 5 event featuring a one-night, eight-man, single-elimination tournament from Japan. The league made its debut on the channel last December.

With the NBA regular season wrapped up, NBA Digital announced that it had set record numbers for the season across digital properties. Benchmarks include NBA.com scoring nearly 6.6 billion page views and 3.9 billion video streams from the start of the season through April 14. Meanwhile, NBA Mobile delivered over 86 million streams this season, another record.

beIN SPORT is releasing a new app that will offer exclusive video, news and scheduling content available on Android and iOS platforms. The app includes the ability for users to filter the news and videos to choose their favorite leagues and sports.
