New pilots and series in the works:

  • ABC approved an untitled comedy pilot presentation from writer Victor Fresco (Andy Richter Controls the Universe) and produced by 20th Century Fox TV. The plot is about an up-standing, do-gooder guy living in an amoral world.
  • Alevy is working with NBC on a pilot presentation for the quiz show Would You Rather where people have to decide between two equally unpleasant options, says Variety. Howie Mandel will executive produce along with Scott St. John and Imagination.
  • Also from Variety, a new scripted 60m drama for SCI FI, Kill-Switch is being co-produced by Alevy, Universal Media Studios and Blueprint. Writer Don Mancini and Howie Mandel are executive producing with Rick Kellard. The story is about a woman who can go into the bodies of soon-to-be murdered people.
  • Howie Mandel will star and be executive producer for the unscripted comedy Howie Do It for NBC and Canada’s Global Television. Both entities will share the production costs. Alevy in association with 3 Arts Entertainment will also produce.

David Eick, executive producer on SCI FI’s Battlestar Galactica, made a two-year overall writing deal with NBC’s Universal Media Studios which begins June 1.

Today’s Al Roker is set to host Celebrity Family Feud which will enter NBC’s All-American Summer schedule starting July 1 at 8p. The FremantleMedia North America-produced game show is based on the original version but this one will feature four celebrity families playing against each other to raise money for charities. Participating celebrities will be announced soon.

CYNOPSIS DIGITAL – TODAY’S TOP STORY:    All 5 members of the FCC met behind open doors on the Stanford University campus yesterday to hold another hearing on net neutrality issues, and this time Comcast decided not to show up at all. The refused invitation comes days after the MSO released a “Bill of Rights” initiative with P2P content delivery provider Pando Networks, recommending how best to manage file sharing traffic. FCC commissioners seemed to be divided about the issues. Michael Copps and Jonathan Adelstein called for the agency to prevent Comcast and its competitors from unfairly discriminating against some customers, reports the AP. But two others, Deborah Tate and Robert McDowell, warned against burdening the industry with additional regulations.  Full edition: CYN DIGITAL.
