04/16/10

Good morning. It’s Friday, April 16, 2010, and this is your first early morning Kids briefing.

Fox and James Cameron‘s movie Avatar (PG-13) sets a new Imax international record by surpassing the US$100 million gross box office mark at Imax theaters internationally this week.  The movie hit the Imax milestone on 85 international screens, with a per screen average of about $1.2 million.  The global Imax box office total for the feature film has reached $228 million.

MORE KIDS STUFF

CITV (UK) re-commissions The Foundation, an in-house production company of RDF Media Group, to produce a third season of kid-targeted magic series, Tricky TV (20×25), hosted by Stephen Mulhern (Britain’s Got More Talent, Animals Do The Funniest Things, Ministry Of Mayhem, Quick Trick Show).  The new season will continue to showcase a range of magic tricks and various segments, but this time around Mulhern will have help performing them with the addition of handpicked Tweens 8-15 from across the UK.  Tricky TV has already been picked up by broadcasters including; NRK (Norway), MBC (Middle East), Teletoon (France), Super RTL (Germany), Disney Japan, Nick India, Mediacorp Singapore for Okto Channel and Cartoon Network (Korea, South East Asia, Australia, Philippines and New Zealand).

DQ Entertainment (DQE) enters into a broadcast deal with TVO (Canada) for the new 3D animated series and special The Jungle Book (52×11, 1×60).  The series will premiere exclusively in Ontario, Canada on TVOKids, TVO’s kid-targeted programming block.  Based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic stories, the animated series and special was developed and produced by DQE in co-production with TF1 (France), Moonscoop (France) and ZDF Group (Germany).

Cartoon Doll Emporium (CDE) appoints Gorilla Nation’s GN Kids as the exclusive online ad rep for its tween-targeted Cartoon Doll Emporium ( www.cartoondollemporium.com), Cartoon Doll Emporium Boys ( www.cdeboys.com ) and Dress Up Dream ( www.dressupdream.com ).  GN Kids will oversee the online ad inventory for CDE’s virtual cartoon dolls online, which boasts 3.4 million unique visitors per Google Analytics for March 2010.
