What are three attributes that got you where you are now?
Tenacity, grit, perspective

What advice would you give to someone who is looking to enter the market?
To read Cynopsis, of course! And also, to be humble and not think you’re “above” or “too senior to take on” any task. That help can come from unexpected places, so always be open; that you try to behave in a way that will make you proud when you look back on your actions, five years from now. And finally, to always wear lipstick!

Pre-workday, what is your morning ritual?
I have a wonderful husband who brings me coffee in bed when the alarm goes off, so that is a terrific morning ritual. I cuddle with my puppy, Pancake, even though she doesn’t like it. I always look at the headlines in the New York Times app, followed by playing the Spelling Bee. If I don’t get the pangram, it’s a bad omen.

What about your job keeps you up at night?
Thinking about how quickly markets change and what more I can do to be ahead of the curve. How to best encourage my staff to do their most creative work. What I am going to watch after this season of Ted Lasso ends (not really about my job, but I am worried).

In an industry brimming with information, what isn’t talked about enough? (Tell us more in a paragraph)
I would like to see more acknowledgement among the different sectors in media that we really are a community. Of course there’s competition and we are business people tasked with making money…but we are also all members of an exciting, fast-changing sector that has incredible possibility and opportunity. Not to sound too pollyanna, but the more we can collaborate on the difficult issues facing the market, the sooner we will find solutions – and all be more successful as a result.
