Jon Steinlauf, one of the most respected executives in the media industry, is stepping down from his position as Warner Bros. Discovery Chief US Advertising Sales Officer later this year. “I have had the privilege of representing this great portfolio of brands for the last 32 years – at Turner, Scripps, Discovery and now at WBD,” said Steinlauf in a memo shared with staff. “This is the right time to begin a new chapter both personally and professionally. It is incredible to look back at my early years at ESPN, and the birth of cable, to see how the business has grown and transformed. I have had the good fortune to have always worked with, and for, the best companies, brands, and people. And this includes all of you. I couldn’t be prouder and more appreciative of this ad sales team and what we accomplished together in both the prosperous and challenging times.” Steinlauf will continue in his role as WBD searches for his successor. “We are very grateful for all Jon has done for us, and while supportive of his personal desire to seek other directions in his life and career, we will clearly miss him,” said Bruce Campbell, the company’s Chief Revenue and Strategy Officer. News of Steinlauf’s impending exit comes seven weeks after another highly regarded WBD exec, Kathleen Finch, Chairman and CEO, US Networks, announced her upcoming retirement.

Disney Channel has reason to be optimistic about upcoming series “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place” – the sequel’s trailer drew 69 million views across Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube in its first 10 days. That makes it the most-watched trailer for a comedy series ever at Disney Channel. The show makes its debut on Tuesday, October 29 at 8p. |
Netflix canceled “That ‘90s Show” after two seasons. The series was a sequel to 1998-2006 Fox comedy “That ‘70s Show.” But the show might go on – Kurtwood Smith, who portrayed Reid on the comedy, posted on X, “We aren’t going to be dumbasses…we will shop the show, because good grandparents would try hard to get these kids graduated from high school.”
