OpenAI has decided not to convert to a for-profit corporation. Instead, the company is restructuring as a public benefit corporation, and the nonprofit that controls OpenAI will continue to control the company. “OpenAI was founded as a non-profit, and is today overseen and controlled by that nonprofit,” wrote OpenAI Board Chairman Bret Taylor in a blog post. “Going forward, it will continue to be overseen and controlled by that nonprofit.” OpenAI says it reversed course “after hearing from civic leaders and engaging in constructive dialogue with the offices of the Attorney General of Delaware and the Attorney General of California.”
Lionsgate and Starz will start trading as standalone companies on Wednesday, following the Supreme Court of British Columbia’s order approving the division of Lions Gate Entertainment Corp.’s Studio and Starz businesses. Starz will be headed by current CEO Jeff Hirsch and will trade under the stock symbol STRZ. Lionsgate Studios trades under the symbol LION. |
ABC News is running a daily show on the trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs. “Burden of Proof: The Case Against Diddy” premieres Friday, May 9, at 5:30p on streamer ABC News Live, hosted by “GMA3” co-anchor and senior national correspondent Eva Pilgrim. The 30-minute show will offer real-time updates and analysis of the defense and prosecution.
Allen Media Group handed all nine of its courtroom shows two-year renewals. “Allen Media Group has the best television court judges, and we are one hundred percent committed to their continued success,” said Byron aid Allen, founder, chairman/CEO of Allen Media Group. AMG is the world’s largest owner-producer-distributor of TV court programming, with its shows carried in more than 90% of US broadcast markets.
Nickelodeon has canceled “Tyler Perry’s Young Dylan” after five seasons. “We’re deeply proud of the entire cast and crew, as well as our amazing partners at Tyler Perry Studios, for the work they’ve created and the stories they’ve brought to life around this show,” said a statement from Nickelodeon. |

Bravo dating series “Kings Court,” hosted by Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, premieres Sunday, July 13 at 9p. In the reality show, three celebrity “kings” search for their queen.
New E! docuseries “Honestly Cavallari: The Headline Tour” premieres Wednesday, June 4 at 10p, with two debut episodes that will air simultaneously across Bravo. The series follows reality TV star Kristin Cavallari (“Very Cavallari”) as she takes her podcast “Let’s Be Honest” on the road.

Google took to the NewFronts stage to introduce new AI-driven ad tech offerings focused on four key behaviors of consumers: streaming, scrolling, searching and shopping. During a presentation at Pier 57, Google also unveiled numerous partnerships, including a new commerce and retail solution with Regal Cinemas as well as Costco, Intuit and Kinective Media by United Airlines. Partnerships with entertainment companies include Tubi, NBCUniversal, Disney, Paramount, Spotify, Warner Bros. Discovery and Roblox.
