| A Cynopsis Message From ITN |
IN THE NEWS |
| Netflix is thinking big for “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.” In a first for the streamer, Greta Gerwig’s big-budget adventure film will open wide in theaters on February 12, 2027 — with sneak previews in IMAX theaters starting February 10 — followed by its Netflix drop on April 2. The origin story for C.S. Lewis’ Narnia is the first ever adaptation of Lewis’s The Magician’s Nephew, which was published in 1955.
The Kentucky Derby on Saturday delivered the most viewers in 36 years, with an average of 19.6 million on NBC and Peacock (up 11% versus last year), and a peak viewership of 24.4 million, according to preliminary data from Adobe Analytics. Next out of the gate: the Preakness on May 16.
New research from Parks Associates finds that a Paramount–Warner Bros. Discovery merger would give the combined entity a footprint spanning 57% of US internet households, placing it firmly in the same tier as the four dominant streaming powers. Netflix, Google, Amazon, and Disney each currently reach close to 60% of consumers through their respective platforms and services. Netflix leads the pack, present in 64% of US internet households, making it the most widely adopted streaming ecosystem. Amazon and YouTube are neck-and-neck behind it, each reaching 61% of households — Amazon through Prime Video and MGM+, YouTube through its broader suite of services. Disney rounds out the top four at 58%, driven by its multi-platform approach across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. |
 |
| “There is a clear shift in how consumers engage with streaming content,” said Michael Goodman, Director, Entertainment Research, Parks Associates. “Unless you are Netflix, it’s no longer about a single flagship service. Success increasingly depends on building a broad ecosystem of complementary offerings that keep viewers within a single brand family.”
Netflix spy thriller “The Night Agent” will wrap with season four. “Ever since the initial success of ‘The Night Agent’ I’ve been obsessed with eventually delivering a proper and thrilling conclusion to the show and to Peter Sutherland’s journey,” said creator, EP and showrunner Shawn Ryan. “I’m so grateful to Netflix and Sony Pictures Television for partnering with me on ‘The Night Agent’ and for giving us the space to deliver a definitive final season to our worldwide legion of fans.”
Fox has canceled “Going Dutch” after two seasons. The military comedy starring Denis Leary averaged under one million Live + Same Day viewers.
The Coalition for Innovative Media Measurement (CIMM) and TVB have jointly released Guidelines for Local TV & Video Currency Measurement, a new industry resource aimed at bringing greater clarity to what buyers, sellers and measurement providers should expect from currency measurement solutions in the local TV and video space. At the heart of the guidelines are three core principles:
· Inclusive Measurement should reflect the diversity of local audiences, the full range of ways viewers access local TV and video content, and the realities of markets of different sizes across the United States.
· Transactable Measurement should be stable, reliable, and suitable for use in forecasting, audience guarantees, post analysis, and the operational requirements of buying and selling local media.
· Transparent Measurement providers should clearly disclose methodology, communicate changes in advance, support auditability, and provide the market with enough information to evaluate how a service works and how results should be interpreted.
“Local TV and local video remain important parts of the advertising marketplace,” said Jon Watts, Managing Director, CIMM. “As such, the industry will benefit from having a clear, practical framework for evaluating whether measurement solutions are truly ready for local use. These guidelines are intended to help create that shared reference point.”
Every platform is chasing the same thing: an audience that actually pays attention. Gaming already has it. That’s the view of André Swanston, Founder & CEO of PHȲND, who argues that while social feeds compete for seconds and streaming content plays in the background, gamers are fully immersed — engaged for extended sessions, making active decisions, and spending real money. To find out why gaming audiences are becoming as valuable as commerce platforms, go to Cynsiders. |
