IN THE NEWS |
CBS has canceled “S.W.A.T.” again. The police drama was first axed in 2023 after six seasons, a decision that was reversed in favor of what was called a “seventh and final season.” The show was then renewed for an eighth season in 2024. While it appears unlikely CBS will do a third about-face, series star Shemar Moore has another thought. “Hey Netflix, how you doing?” Moore said on IG. “If you’re interested in a show that is on autopilot that the world is watching, we’d love to come play. NBC, Fox, ABC, hey, you want to come flirt with me? You’re invited to the barbecue. Pick your favorite restaurant. I will pay the bill.”
Season three of Prime Video’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” will be its last. Not because of declining viewership – season one of the hit multigenerational drama debuted as the #1 show on the platform its premiere weekend, and season two more than doubled season one’s viewership within three days. The series is based no Jenny Han’s best-selling YA novel trilogy.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr fired off a letter to the CEOs of Alphabet and Google, Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan, saying he has received complaints that YouTube TV deliberately marginalizes faith-based and family-friendly content. In the letter, Carr cited a complaint from Great American Media that its Great American Family network is carried on a range of streaming services, but YouTube TV “refuses” to carry it. “While YouTube TV does not appear to have a public facing policy against such programs, I want to determine whether your company engages in this form of discrimination in practice,” Carr wrote, giving Alphabet a deadline of March 11 to schedule a briefing. Responded a YouTube spokesperson, “We welcome the opportunity to brief the FCC on YouTube TV’s subscription service and the strategic business decisions we make based on factors like user demand, operational cost and financial terms, and to reiterate that we do not have any policies that prohibit religious content.” |
President Trump on Friday appointed Fox News’ Laura Ingraham and Maria Bartiromo to the board of the Kennedy Center. “We look forward to restoring the Center to Greatness, and ushering in America’s Golden Age,” posted Trump, whose appointees last month elected him chairman of the center. Among numerous cancellations since then was “Hamilton,” which last week killed plans for a 2026 performance in protest. |

INSIGHT |
The theme for Women’s History Month 2025 is “Moving Forward Together: Women Educating and Inspiring Generations,” We asked three women in media what their biggest challenge to achieving success has been.
Marianne Vita, SVP of the Video Advertising Bureau: “I believe the biggest hurdle I had to overcome to achieve success was to untether myself from the idea that there was just one set of ‘traditional benchmarks of success’ and that they would be the yardstick of success throughout my entire career. I’ve found that what has given me the most pride, satisfaction and joy in my work has shifted and evolved over time. At some points, it was recognition in the form of a promotion. At other stages, it’s been successfully mentoring young talent, cultivating a healthy work-life balance, or meeting my own personal learning and growth goals. As we change and evolve as professionals and humans, so should the way we define and celebrate our successes.”
Jennifer Flanagan, Marketing Executive at Adtaxi: “One of the biggest hurdles I’ve faced is being the only woman in the room—more times than I can count. There were moments early in my career when I struggled with imposter syndrome, questioning whether I belonged. But I focused on what I could control: delivering results, proving my value, and making sure my voice was heard. Over time, I learned that confidence comes from action, and the best way to earn a seat at the table is to show up, speak up, and drive impact. Now, I recognize how important it is to be a role model for other women, helping to create a path where they don’t have to face the same challenges alone. Empowering and uplifting other women isn’t just rewarding—it’s essential to making real progress.”
Bri Hudson, Director of Strategy at Saylor: “I must first say while I’ve been incredibly well supported and championed on my journey, the biggest challenge I’ve encountered is the red tape of bureaucracy and hiring systems built for the average professional journey that don’t make space for alternative identities, paths, and experiences.
As I pivoted out of a 10+ year career as a leader and impact-maker in IT, it was really difficult to find spaces that would honor my transferable skills, intellectual prowess, instincts, and raw passion for the work as valuable enough to take a meaningful chance on. Even when the doors were open, I had to walk through them as a beginner, with a beginner salary in my thirties instead of a seasoned professional. In large holding companies, paying dues was prioritized over whatever spark of talent or experience I brought to the table.
Trusting talent with unique identity intersections and diverse paths into the work is crucial for creative innovation in all industries. Everything else is an echo chamber.” |
