Comscore released an enhancement of its cross-platform audience measurement solution, Comscore Campaign Ratings. Comscore Campaign Ratings Local (CCR Local) gives advertisers access to deduplicated audience measurement at the local market level across linear, digital and social. The top 100 US local markets are now live in CCR Local, along with 29 additional selected markets, with full coverage of all local markets to follow. “Comscore has delivered a true cross-platform solution that measures audiences at the hyper-local level, enabling our clients to advertise nationally and optimize locally,” said Steve Bagdasarian, Comscore Chief Commercial Officer. “We’re building enterprise-level cross-platform measurement that offers advertisers the ability to seamlessly measure and optimize against their intended audiences with speed and accuracy, whether it is programmatically or directly, both nationally, or locally.” The Trade Desk will be the first demand-side platform to integrate CCR Local market reporting.

Total TV viewing hit a four-year high in January, with usage up 3.7% from December among P2+. January had nine of its highest-volume streaming days, including January 13, when Peacock’s streamed an NFL playoff game that scored 3.9 billion viewing minutes. YouTube maintained the largest share of any streaming platform for the 12th consecutive month, at 8.6%. Netflix remained in second place (7.9%), followed by Prime Video (2.8%) and Hulu (2.7%). Streaming accounted for a 36% share of viewing, up from 32.8% a year ago, while cable had a 27.9% share broadcast viewing had a 24.2%.

Spotify is launching AUX, an industry-first music agency aimed at helping brands use music in their campaigns and emerging artists reach new audiences. “Spotify is always looking for ways to leverage our music eco-system to deepen the connections between artists, brands, and fans,” said Jeremy Erlich, VP, Head of Music Content at Spotify. “AUX is a natural step for us to help brands strengthen their music strategy and better connect with new audiences through our expert insights and observations from our music team, tailored to meet brands’ needs.”

Amazon said it is not closing its ad-supported streaming service, Freevee, despite a report to the contrary in Adweek that suggested the recent introduction of advertising on Prime Video made Freevee redundant. “There are no changes to Freevee,” said a company spokesperson in a statement. “Amazon Freevee remains an important streaming offering providing both Prime and non-Prime customers thousands of hit movies, shows, and originals, all for free.”

The “Judge Judy” library was renewed for three more years by CBS Stations and FOX Stations. Gray Television and Hearst also signed on for multiple years. “The ‘Judge Judy’ library is a powerful force on stations across the country,” said Greg Guenther, SVP Domestic Sales, CBS Media Ventures. “It draws viewers and boosts stations’ lineups, improving its new time periods on average by +40% among total viewers.”

Ashleigh Banfield has reached a new multi-year agreement with the NewsNation to continue hosting her primetime program, “Banfield,” weeknights at 10p. According to Nielsen, since September 2022, ratings for “Banfield” have nearly doubled among total viewers and are up more than 250% among those A25-54.

Two weeks after leaving his anchor job at CNN, John Avlon has filed to run as a Democrat in New York’s 1st Congressional District. The district covers the eastern area of Long Island and Suffolk County.

What does Jimmy Kimmel think about disgraced former lawmaker George Santos suing him for fraud? Responding on his late-night show to Santos’ claim, Kimmel said, “He says we deceived him under the guise of fandom — soliciting personalized videos, only to then broadcast these on national television. And if there’s one thing George Santos will not stand for, it’s using a fake name under false pretenses.” Kimmel joked that that Santos is “being represented by the prestigious law firm of Pot, Kettle and Black.”

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the recipients of the 75th Annual Technology & Engineering Emmy® Awards. “The Technology & Engineering Emmy Award was the first Emmy Award issued in 1949 and it laid the groundwork for all the other Emmys to come,” said Adam Sharp, CEO & President, NATAS. “We are extremely happy about honoring these prestigious individuals and companies, together with NAB, where the intersection of innovation, technology and excitement in the future of television can be found.” The ceremony will take place in October 2024, at NYC’s Javits Center.

Season 16 of “AfroPoP: The Ultimate Cultural Exchange” kicks off with director Nailah Jefferson’s “Commuted,” exploring the impact of the criminal justice system on the formerly incarcerated through the story of Danielle Metz. The season premieres on Monday, April 1 on WORLD and continues weekly through April 22.

“Oppenheimer” was the most-watched pay movie ever on Peacock, surpassing last year’s “The Super Mario Bros. Movie.” The acclaimed film dropped on the streamer seven months after its theatrical release.

Crunchyroll has launched on LG smart TVs internationally. The anime app offers more than 18,000 hours, 46,000 episodes and films, and 3,300 Japanese music videos and concert specials.

COMING UP

FOX News Channel’s chief political anchor Bret Baier will interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy today, February 22 at 6p from Ukraine. It will mark the first time Zelenskyy has been interviewed at the frontlines of combat since the war started two years ago.

All-Latino horror anthology “Satanic Hispanics” makes its streaming debut Friday, March 8 on Shudder. The film will also be available on AMC+.

Among the presenters at the 30th annual SAG Awards will be Idris Elba (“Hijack”) who will open the ceremony, and Jennifer Aniston (“The Morning Show”), a longtime Barbra Streisand fan, who will present the Life Achievement Award to the actor, singer, producer, writer, and director. The ceremony airs Saturday, February 24 at 8p on Netflix.

The three-part reunion for season 13 of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” kicks off Wednesday, February 28 at 8p on Bravo.

Apple has introduced a free sports app for the iPhone, offering real-time stats and the ability to tap through for live games on Apple TV. “We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services. Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store.

MoonBall Media, an MLB player-owned media and production company from producer and former player Anthony Seratelli and World Series Champion Eric Hosmer, has launched with original unscripted programming, a weekly podcast, social media content and upcoming FAST channels. Also part of MoonBall’s slate is a documentary highlighting two unlikely journeys of cowboys who come from vastly different worlds, competing for the World Bull Riding Championship.

Fuse Media, COMBATE GLOBAL’s English language broadcast partner, will kick off their first-ever live sports programming event with a Mexico vs. USA MMA fight on Saturday, February 24 at 9:30p on Fuse. As part of the deal celebrating Latino sports, Fuse will broadcast eight live events between the spring and summer that showcase the top male and female Hispanic MMA fighters. Saturday’s matchup will feature Marcos Lloreda (13-8) and Javier Basurto (23-9).

Bleacher Report will produce and distribute the inaugural event of Grass League, the par 3 golf league, via the B/R website, B/R app and social channels, Golf Digest and truTV. Rainmaker Content has extended its collaboration with Toronto-based indie No Equal Entertainment to include new series – “The Collector: Redux,” “The Work” and “Erratic” – for No Equal.

Two additional seasons of Nippon TV’s “Silent Library Suomi” are now airing on the Walt Disney Company-owned Star Channel. Rabbit Films will continue to produce the Finnish-language version.

CBS had the top 16 shows of strike-delayed premiere week, the first time any network could make that boast since Nielsen introduced People-Meters in 1987. The net also counted 32% more viewers – an average 5.08 million – than premiere week in the 2022/23 season. “As soon as the strikes ended, we focused on a programming and promotional plan to launch our new season following the Super Bowl,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of Entertainment at CBS. “Our loyal and new viewers overwhelmingly responded and welcomed back their favorite shows in a big way.”

The premiere of Telemundo’s “El Señor de los Cielos” last Tuesday delivered an average of 420,000 viewers A18-49 and 162,000 A8-34 (Tuesday-Friday), and ranked as the #1 entertainment program, regardless of language, each night in its timeslot, among A18-34.

The second episode of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” delivered 1.3 million total viewers on Comedy Central, up 35% versus last week and the show’s most-watched telecast since Stewart’s last episode in 2015.

Fox News’ town hall with Donald Trump on Tuesday drew 3.2 million viewers, according to early Nielsen numbers. In the A25-54 demo, the forum delivered 327,000.
