   IN THE NEWS

Two days after ByteDance announced a deal with non-Chinese investors to create a new US TikTok, the platform’s updated privacy policy sparked backlash on Saturday for listing the collection of sensitive personal data, including immigration status, gender identity, and sexual orientation. However, similar language appeared in TikTok’s previous policy and mirrors disclosures common across social media platforms, largely to comply with state privacy laws. The update does introduce notable changes, including precise location tracking, monitoring of AI interactions, and the use of collected data to serve ads beyond the app.

“The Hunting Party” is on the move. After debuting on NBC last year and returning January 8 for its second season, the crime procedural is heading to Netflix. Season one begins streaming Sunday, February 16, as Netflix continues a licensing binge that includes recent deals with Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount.
