It’s game over for advertisers wanting in on the Super Bowl – the February 2 Fox broadcast of the football championship has sold out, a month ahead of CBS‘s sellout announcement last year. Doritos, Butterfinger, Jaguar and Wonder Pistachios are among the 43 advertisers that gobbled up the 32ish minutes of ad time. Everyone else? Fox is offering ad space during its livestream and pregame programming.

~ IN THE NEWS ~

A week after Alec Baldwin‘s exit, Martin Bashir is out at MSNBC. Bashir’s offensive comments about Sarah Palin on November 15 sparked criticism, prompting the afternoon talk show host to issue an on-air apology, then take time off. Now Bashir has tendered his resignation. “It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter,” read a statement from Bashir, “without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments.”

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is accepting submissions for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmys – and all judging and voting will be done online. “We are thrilled to be taking the Daytime Emmy Awards contest into the 21st century,” Daytime Emmy Awards senior executive director David Michaels tells Cynopsis. “People can judge from anywhere – including their ipads – making it very convenient. We feel that this new system will increase the participation of qualified industry judges.”

Zoraida Sambolin is leaving CNN, TVNewser was first to report. The host of Early Start, who underwent a double mastectomy in May, wrote in a note to her staff that “life is beckoning me back to Chicago.” Said a CNN spokesman, “Although we will miss her, we understand and support her decision.”

Conde Nast Entertainment has partnered with Roku to make the content from all its channels (GQ, Glamour, Vogue, Wired, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair and Style) free to the device’s users. “From the inception of CNE,” said EVP and chief digital officer Fred Santarpia, “our goal has been to bring our premium content to as many screens as possible.”

What was the draw? “In the 22 years producing this event, this is our best list of stars,” Juma Entertainment president Robert Horowitz tells Cynopsis. “I’m certain the strong bookings have a lot to do with Miranda Lambert agreeing to do a private benefit concert.” The event, to benefit Waterkeeper Alliance, airs on CBS Sunday, December 8 at 5p.

Old pals and duet partners Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers are featured in GAC‘s Kenny & Dolly: An Intimate Conversation. Said Parton of the pair’s chemistry: “It’s like with my husband; we’re not together that much so it works.” Special airs Monday, December 9 at 9p.
