RATINGS
Despite California wildfire preemptions, all 15 talkers – led by Dr. Phil (3.4 Live+SD national rating, up 3% from the week before) – held their ground or forged ahead in the session ending December 10. Dr. Phil rose to three-week high and finished first for the 66th consecutive frame. Wendy Williams (1.4, up 8%), Rachael Ray (1.3, up 8%), Jerry Springer (1.2, up 9%), Dr. Oz (1.2, up 9%) and Crime Watch Daily (1.0, up 11%) moved up significantly. Steve (1.4, steady) was the sole talker in the top six to match its season high, tying Maury (1.4, unchanged) and Wendy for fourth place.
Entertainment Tonight (3.3, steady) and sister show Inside Edition (new season high 3.3, up 3%) tied for the magazine lead for the third time in five weeks. TMZ (1.5), Access Hollywood (1.4) and Extra (1.3) maintained their best levels of the season.
WGN America scored its strongest Total Day performance among A25-54 (146,000) in nearly three years (since January 3, 2015/165,000) with the kickoff of a 19-hour M*A*S*H marathon on Saturday, December 9.
The NFL On CBS coverage on Sunday, December 17 was the most-watched NFL game this season on any network with 26.9 million viewers. New England’s win over Pittsburgh was up +8% from last year’s 25.0 million viewers from the comparable National game, New England-Denver.
60 Minutes was the top non-sports program for the week. The CBS newsmagazine drew 14.42 million viewers to land at #2 behind Sunday night NFL coverage, according to Nielsen Live+SD ratings.
Bravo Media is pacing to finish 2017 as the #1 rated cable network in primetime among females 18-49 and females 25-54 for the first time in network history. In addition, Bravo ranks #7 in primetime among all ad-supported cable entertainment networks in P18-49 and P25-54, marking the net’s highest ranking ever in these coveted demos.
For the 12th consecutive year, USA Network will end 2017 as the #1 most-watched ad-supported cable entertainment network. The Sinner ranked as the top new cable series of the year among P18-49, P25-54, P18-34 and P2+. Driven by WWE Monday Night Raw and WWE Smackdown Live, USA was the #1 cable entertainment network on Mondays and Tuesdays (P18-49, P25-54, P2+, M18-49, M25-54, M18-34, M2+).
BET is wrapping up 2017 on a high note, as it remains the #1 cable network for African Americans and is a Top 15 cable net among Millennials P18-34. BET has seen seven consecutive months of year-over-year ratings gains, the longest streak in nearly eight years.
