CASTING
Might Sir Ian McKelllen consider taking his role of Gandalf to the small screen in Amazon’s TV adaptation of Lord of the Rings? Perhaps, if his comments to BBC Radio 2’s Graham Norton can be believed. “I haven’t said yes because I haven’t been asked,” said McKellen.
Andrew Gower (Outlander) and Jamie Harris (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) will recur in Amazon’s Carnival Row.
DIGITAL DATA
Rival streamers Netflix and Amazon are in agreement on one thing: both think the FCC’s rollback of net neutrality rules stinks. “I am extremely disappointed in the FCC decision…We’ll continue to work with our peers, partners and customers to find ways to ensure an open and fair internet,” tweeted Amazon CTO Werner Vogels. “We’re disappointed in the decision to gut #NetNeutrality protections that ushered in an unprecedented era of innovation, creativity & civic engagement,” said Netflix. Facebook labeled the decision “disappointing and harmful.”
