Facebook is rolling out its first video ads on Thursday, the company announced. The ads will automatically play in a user’s newsfeed, and the first will come from a made-for-Facebook trailer from Lionsgate Entertainment Corp. film Divergent. Users won’t see more than three ads in a day, and each ad will cost an advertiser $1 million to $2.5 million a day.
Viewers can now interact and control ads with their TV remotes, courtesy of multi-screen ad management company DG and Smart TV and enhanced TV service provider Cognitive Networks. “By offering consumers instant access, interactive advertising helps brands convert traditional brand-driven advertising to direct response, regardless of when or where the TV spot is airing,” DG’s SVP of Strategic Development Andrew Bloom told Cynopsis.
Promoted Accounts will now be featured in Twitter‘s mobile app user feed. As opposed to Promoted Tweets, these ads are a sharper cry for brand loyalty, thanks to the “follow” button that’s attached to the tweet.
Facebook added a Donate button to let users donate to nonprofit organizations directly from the site, and has already partnered with 20 nonprofits. One thing to keep in mind, according to All Things D: Facebook saves a member’s credit card information after using the function.
Verification tech platform Are You A Human has hired Lou Bridda as Vice President of Sales. Previously, Bridda was Regional Director of East & Midwest at Appsnack.
Data analytics company eXelate has named Deb Josephs as Senior Vice President of Global Human Resources, and Matt Bennathan as Vice President and Managing Director, U.K. Previously, Josephs ran Human Resources as Everyday Health Inc., and Bennathan was Head of Digital Partnerships with Callcredit Information Group.

DIGITAL SPOTLIGHT OF THE DAY
Apple released a new holiday TV spot yesterday, and it’s getting a mixed reaction unlike last year’s FaceTime holiday ad. Although it has warm and fuzzy components, the isolated teenager, the decidedly downbeat version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and even the surprise end leave a bittersweet taste… take a look and decide for yourself at www.cynopsis.com.
