Reserved Inventory: Reserved inventory is ad space on a website that’s set aside for an advertiser for an established price.
There’s another OTT-based live TV service on the horizon, and it looks like CBS will be a part of it. Unplugged, the upcoming “virtual MVPD” from Google’s YouTube, has “been able to make a deal” with CBS Corp., according to CBS chief Les Moonves. The news was reported back in October, but was entirely based on anonymous sourcing. Unplugged is slated to debut next year. Its biggest competitors in the space include Sony’s PlayStation Vue, Dish’s SlingTV, the recently launched DirecTV Now from AT&T, and an upcoming service from Hulu that’s also set to debut next year. Notably, Sling TV and DirecTV Now have both been unable to reach carriage deals with CBS, at least as of yet.

IBM’s The Weather Company announced plans to expand off-property access to WEATHERfx, its programmatic ad-targeting platform. The platform, which uses weather-based triggers to target consumers, will extend its capabilities beyond its Weather Underground and The Weather Channel mobile and web properties, enabling marketers to use WEATHERfx’s targeting capabilities across a wider variety of programmatic ad campaigns. The expansion comes as a result of new partnerships with ad-buying platform The Trade Desk and programmatic out-of-home advertising company Vistar Media….

DHX Television, the TV group best known for Family Channel, has debuted an app for Télémagino, DHX’s French-language TV channel, geared toward preschoolers. The Télémagino App features more than 500 episodes of from 20 TV series, and will be continually updated with new material.
Netflix is coming Home. It seems that the Google Home smart speaker will soon add functionality enabling Chromecast-equipped TV owners to initiate Netflix content via voice command. Google hasn’t made any official announcements, but users have noticed a new Netflix option on the Google Home mobile app. The voice integration feature doesn’t work just yet.
Facebook Live will soon enable 360-degree streaming. Starting today at 3 PM ET, the social giant’s live-broadcasting feature will be taken for its test run in the immersive new format. National Geographic’s Facebook page will run a 360-degree live-stream from the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, showing a group of scientists who have been living under Mars-like conditions for 80 days. Facebook says it will roll out the 360-degree live-streaming feature to other partners in the coming months, and to all users starting next year.
The ListenFirst Television Interest (TVI) Rating (TM) is a standardized measurement of the most buzzed-about TV programs on linear TV and streaming services. A complement to ListenFirst’s other syndicated data products (such as the ListenFirst Digital Audience Rating – TV), the metrics included in the rating capture organic actions that are largely unaffected by paid media. Programs that surface on the TVI leaderboards are the most hashtagged on Facebook, Google+, and Tumblr, as well as most searched for on Wikipedia (used as a proxy for organic search volume).

Video personalization platform IRIS.TV has named to new VPs. Ashley King, who joins the company from the programmatic buying marketplace AndBeyond.Media, will serve as Vice President of Sales. Christian De Gennaro will hold the same title; he most recently worked at Verve Mobile. The VP of Sales positions are newly recreated. Based in New York, King and Gennaro will both report to CRO and Co-founder Robert Bardunias.
