NimbleTV started offering subscriptions in the New York market that allow pay-TV subscribers to watch television over the Web. NBC is turning to experts for commentary at Sochi. On Monday, former Washington Post bureau chief David Remnick was announced as part of the 2014 Winter Olympics journalism team, and on Wednesday exec producer Jim Bell said Moscow-based journalist Vladimir Pozner will be on hand, to “to provide a Russian outlook.” Pozner has appeared on U.S. television before, including ABC‘s Nightline.

“Big Data” was the buzzword at the TV of Tomorrow show yesterday in New York City. During one panel, which included representatives from Cablevision, Kantar Media, FourthWall Media, Ish Entertainment, Visible World and Furious Minds, the speakers debated whether or not the avalanche of information available actually translates into better television. “There’s a stultifying amount of data marshaled by networks,” said Ish Entertainment CEO Michael Hirschorn, “that doesn’t always serve the content.”

A new holiday shopping study from Horizon Media indicates people rely more on Amazon for shopping information than on television – and it’s not just those Millennials. No more talking babies at the Super Bowl – at least not from E-trade, the financial services company that’s advertised during the big game since 2007. What’s the deal? In the past the brand was mass market focused, E-Trade’s SVP, branding and acquisition Rich Muhlstock told AdAge, but “now we’re sharpening our focus on key prospects and existing customers.”

RATINGS

CBS‘s The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show was the top-rated show Tuesday night with 3.4/10 in A18-49, enough to knock NBC‘s The Voice, which dropped three tenths week to week for 3.1/9, off its demo perch. Among total viewers, Secret saw its third biggest audience ever (9.71 million viewers), after its bow in 2002, and in 2011. ABC‘s Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. dropped five-tenths to 2.1/6 in A18-49.

Sons of Anarchy‘s season six finale on Tuesday was most-watched finale in the history of the FX drama (5.2 million total viewers). With its encore telecast, the ep delivered 6.4 million viewers and 4.3 million A18-49.

TNT boasts four of basic cable’s top 15 original series for 2013 year-to-date, more than any other network. Rizzoli & Isles brought over 8.3 million viewers in Live + 7 delivery for the first half of season four during the summer; Major Crimes is drawing 6.9 million viewers in Live + 7 for season two, airing Mondays at 9p; Falling Skies attracted 5.6 million viewers in Live+ 7 for season three, and crime drama Perception drew 5.5 million viewers in Live + 7 for its second season.

Court show Judge Judy was up 4 percent in the November sweep race versus last year with a 7.5 HH rating, to make it the number one show in syndication. Steve Harvey (1.8, up 38 percent) and Wendy Williams (1.4/up 40 percent) scored the biggest year-to-year increases in talk, with Dr. Phil the top talk show once again with 3.4.

Citing preliminary numbers from Nielsen, Adult Swim reports it’s on track to achieve its most-watched year in its 12-year history among targeted adult demos. Year over year, A18-34 prime time average delivery increased by 20 percent (to 558,000), A18-49 increased 17 percent (to 785,000) and M18-34 got a 29 percent bump (to 310,000).

The Deer Valley Celebrity Skifest aired on CBS on Sunday, scoring 55 percent over last year (1.7/3 HH rating in metered markets). The Juma Entertainment production tied NBC‘s PGA golf, with Tiger Woods in a playoff.
