Kathy Griffin is officially onboard E!‘s Fashion Police as host, joining Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic. Replacing George Kotsiopoulos will be new panelist Brad Goreski (It’s a Brad Brad World). Exec producer Melissa Rivers, daughter of the late Joan Rivers, approves of the replacement. “Kathy just feels right,” said Rivers. As for Griffin, “These are some big shoes I’m going to fill,” acknowledged the comedian. “Now I just hope you will accept me for me…You celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners.”


How do you say happy birthday to a 50-year-old reindeer? CBS is using “Animagic” animation and live action footage in promos saluting the anniversary of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, featuring stars from the net’s shows interacting with Rudolph and Sam the Snowman. And CBS stations can customize the spots with their own on-air talent and logo. “Each year, we look for a unique way to have the CBS family involved in a holiday campaign,” said George Schweitzer, president, CBS Marketing Group.

CBS isn’t giving up on The McCarthys, adding two eps to its order of 13 for the freshman comedy from Sony Pictures Television and CBS Studios Television.

For those who want news in really small doses, ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir is hosting one-minute daily newscast Facecast: The One Thing on the World News Facebook page. The spot offers a roundup of “essential stories.”

Dean Cain, star of Ion‘s Merry Ex-Mas, will be helping hand out 1500 sandwiches to help feed needy New Yorkers, via an Ion partnership with the Coalition for the Homeless’s Grand Central Food Program. Donations take place at St. Bartholomew’s beginning at 5:30p, and at street locations via delivery vans. Earlier in the day, an Ion-branded food truck will deliver free food in Manhattan as part of a stunt promoting the net’s lineup of five original holiday movies. First up: Merry X-Mas, premiering Sunday, December 7 at 9p.


NBC, Lauren Graham (Parenthood) and Ellen DeGeneresA Very Good Production are developing a show starring Graham as a late night talk host. If the project moves forward, Graham would star as well as exec produce and co-write with Liz Tuccillo (He’s Just Not That Into You).

The Idris Elba Project (wt) will feature the actor/producer pushing himself to the limit racing on land, water and air for Discovery Channel. A Discovery Networks UK commission, produced by Shine North and Green Door Pictures, the series is slated to air in in mid-2015 in the U.S. and more than 220 countries and territories and “embodies Discovery Channel’s ‘Make Your World Bigger’ brand promise," said Susanna Dinnage, EVP and MD at Discovery Networks UK and Ireland.

ITZ Studios is filming reality series pilot Malcolm Flips Vegas at the Golden Nugget Casino in Sin City. Show revolves around an ostentatious Englishman’s real estate gambles.

ABC ordered a script for procedural Ascension, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Series from Kevin O’Hare focuses on a female FBI agent.

Singapore-based Bomanbridge Media announced the start of production on international lifestyle and cooking show Haute & Saucy with Kelly Randall Sia.


Comedian/blogger Daphnie Brogdon offers recipes with a side of humor on new Food Network series, Daphne Dishes. First of six eps launches Sunday, January 4 at 12p, with “Pecan Stuffed Chicken Breast,” “Blistered Tomatoes and Feta Cheese” and “Crowd Pleasing Couscous.”

Animal Planet’s 17-day “Holiday Best Fest,” launching Monday, December 15, includes a special edition of Pit Bulls & Parolees. The episode, airing Saturday, December 20 at 9p, features shelter dogs being groomed to find their forever homes.

ID presents the world television premiere of The Joe Show, about controversial, spotlight-loving Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio, on Sunday, December 14 at 5p. The doc comes from Randy Murray Productions.

Rival bar owners compete to see who can turn the biggest profit – but have to run each other’s bars, in truTV’s new competition series, Barmageddon. Reality show hosted by comedian Mo Mandel launches Wednesday, December 3 at 10p.

The final two eps of Dexter air on NUVOtv Monday, December 8 starting at 9p.  Fans of the serial killer drama get a holiday marathon treat from Christmas until New Year’s Day, with a full season of the show launching each day at 12p.

Ansel Elgort (Divergent) and Eva Longoria (Desperate Housewives) announce the nominees for the 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on Wednesday, December 10. TNT and TBS telecast the news live at 9a.

The premiere of Canal Once Mexico nature preservation series Patrimonio Mundial Natural En Mexico airs Tuesday, December 2 at 5:30p on its international signal serving the U.S.

Parts two and three of “Burn Pits,” a story about American vets fighting for compensation for illnesses caused by burning waste in Iraq and Afghanistan, airs tonight at 9p on Al Jazeera America’s America Tonight

Carrie-d away: CMT hands the reins to Carrie Underwood for a “Takeover Weekend” December 6-7, with music videos, shows, performances and movies that have the American Idol winner’s seal of approval. Underwood’s greatest hits album drops Tuesday, December 9.

Sportsman original series Meet the McMillans wraps ups season two with a marathon from Monday, December 1-Friday, December 5 from 7-8p. Guests include The Voice’s Blake Shelton and Outdoor Channel host Michael Waddell.


NBC’s Parks and Recreation moves from Thursdays to Tuesdays for its seventh and final season. Comedy premieres with back-to-back eps on January 13 at 8p (two nights after star Amy Poehler hosts the Golden Globes with Tina Fey), continuing to double up until a one-hour series finale February 24 at 9p. “In an effort to give it the send-off it deserves, we wanted to ‘event-ize’ the final season to maximize the impact of the episodes, which really do take the show to a new level,” said NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt.

Netflix announced, via “a special message from the White House” on Twitter, that its Emmy-winning House of Cards returns for season three February 27.

Lifetime’s Little Women: LA is back for season two Thursday, January 1 at 9p, with “big news about a baby on the way.” A catch-up special, including new cast interviews, airs at 8p.


Syndicated special A Hollywood Christmas at the Grove, Presented by Cadillac is airing through January 4. Hosted by Nancy O’Dell (Entertainment Tonight), the show features a special appearance by Santa Claus.

NBC’s Mad About You (1992-1999) will get a remake for China. Huaso Film/TV Digital Production, a joint-venture of Sony Pictures Television and CCTV6’s HuaCheng Pictures, will co-produce a Chinese version of the sitcom with Croton Media. It’s the first Asian adaptation of the comedy that starred Helen Hunt and Paul Reiser Stateside.

The midseason finale of AMC’s Walking Dead on Sunday delivered 14.8 million viewers and 9.6 million among A18-49, up 23 percent and 24 percent, respectively, over last year’s corresponding episode. The zombie drama ranks as the number one show in all of television in the demo.

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live was up 14 percent in total viewers and 22 percent among A18-49 the week of November 17 for its second-biggest audience this season, placing second in both categories for the week and beating NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday by 8 percent in viewers.

ABC’s Good Morning America reached new season highs for the second straight week, increasing its year-to-year leads over NBC’s Today by 8 percent in total viewers (716,000 versus 662,000) and more than doubling its lead among A25-54 (228,000 versus 87,000).

Nat Geo WILD’s fifth annual “Big Cat Week” got off to a record start Friday night (.32 P25-54, 460,000 P2+). The premiere of Man v. Lion led the night with .44 P25-54 and 637,000 P2+ to rank as the highest-rated and most-watched Friday telecast in network history.

The Saturday premiere of Hallmark’s Christmas Under Wraps averaged a 5.0HH coverage area rating and 5.8 million total viewers, according to Nielsen fast cable ratings, making it the year’s top HH rated original movie premiere in cable and the second most-watched in total viewers. On Sunday, Hallmark Hall of Fame original One Christmas Eve delivered a 3.2HH coverage area rating and 3.6 million viewers.
