DirecTV pulled no punches in a statement Tuesday morning, after a carriage dispute drove The Weather Channel off the air. “Most consumers don’t want to watch a weather information channel with a forecast of a 40 percent chance of reality TV,” said the satellite service provider. “So with that in mind, we are in the process of discussing an agreement to return the network to our line-up at the right value for our customers.” David Kenny, CEO and chairman of The Weather Co., had a different take, telling Cynopsis, “I just don’t understand how DIRECTV would drop The Weather Channel over a penny per subscriber increase and a fee that every other distributor in the business is paying. What’s heartening, though, is to see the enormous outpouring of support from the public in support of The Weather Channel. We’re truly overwhelmed by the response we’ve seen.”

 IN THE NEWS

Charter‘s $61.3 billion bid for Time Warner Cable, reported Monday, was “grossly inadequate,” said TWC in a statement. “We are not seeking to sell the company, but… made it clear to Charter that our board is open to a transaction with Charter at a price of $160 per TWC share,” said TWC CEO Rob Marcus. Charter’s offer amounted to about $132.50 a share. Charter president and CEO Tom Rutledge told CNBC‘s David Faber on Tuesday “there’s a big job to be done” to turn around TWC.

Local markets should expect a big ad boost during the Olympics, reports AdAge. How much in ad dollars can nets expect? Upwards of $500 million, predicts an AdAge source.

Season six will be the last for Justified, confirmed FX CEO Jon Landgraf at TCA on Tuesday, but the call was made by exec producers Graham Yost and Timothy Olyphant, not the net. “I would have liked to have more Justified, it’s one of my favorite shows,” said Landgraf. The cowboy drama, which just launched season five, airs Tuesdays at 10p.

Unilever‘s Clear Scalp & Hair will be among the sponsors on season six of NBC‘s The Voice, reports AdAge. Starbucks, Sprint and Kia are also onboard for the singing competition’s latest edition, launching Monday, February 24 at 8p.

Outdoor Channel launched an interactive consumer campaign, “What Gets You Outdoors?”, highlighting the “robust outdoor lifestyle.” A microsite encourages viewers to share photos and videos, with #whatgetsyououtdoors-tagged photos and videos from Instagram, Twitter and Facebook streaming into a gallery.

Lifestyle and wellness multiplatform brand Veria Living announced the acquisition of dLife, a multimedia company serving the needs of the diabetes community. The move is part of the mandate, said Veria CEO Eric Sherman, “to make Veria Living the destination for all things related to health and wellness across all media platforms.”

It’s gonna be busy in Miami. NATPE president and CEO Rod Perth announced that attendance figures for domestic and international buyers is pacing well ahead of last year. “We are very optimistic based on the numbers that the 2014 NATPE market and conference will be one of the most active in our history,” said Perth. The conference will be held at the Fontainebleau Resort, Miami Beach, January 27-29.
