A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE
Use Artificial Intelligence to Find the Biggest Possible Audience

AI can customize viewing experiences in a way that makes pay TV more valuable to consumers; it can help you reach potential consumers with increasingly precise ad targeting, and it can help you reach content consumers on A.I. driven platforms, such as smart speakers. We think it’s high time the industry starts really utilizing this new tool. That’s why we’re hosting the Wednesday, December 6 webinar,  Using Artificial Intelligence to Capture & Captivate Audiences.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

George Clooney is headed back the small screen. The ER alum will star in and direct a 6-episode series for Paramount Television and Anonymous Content, based on the Joseph Heller novel Catch-22.

Jenji Kohan (Orange Is the New Black, GLOW) inked an exclusive multi-year deal with Netflix, where she’ll produce new original series and other projects. “Bold, outspoken and totally fearless, Jenji has constantly raised the bar for storytelling at Netflix,” said Cindy Holland, VP Original Content at Netflix.

YouTube greenlit comedy series Liza On Demand, starring Liza Koshy as a woman attempting to become an “elite tasker.” Koshy also exec produces, along with writers Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont (Josie & The Pussycats). Produced by Above Average, a digital-first comedy studio founded by Lorne Michaels’ Broadway Video, series is slated for a 2018 launch on YouTube Red.

A CYNOPSIS MESSAGE FROM NCM
In a League of Our Own

Justice was served this weekend as Justice League fought its way to the top of the box office, delivering NCM a 11.0 A18-34 rating and superseding all other programming.

We may not be Batman, but with unbeatable original content, Millennial reach, and movie audience data, America’s Movie Network is the hero you need to unite with your target audience.

Noovie. Always entertaining.

SEXUAL HARASSMENT  IN THE MEDIA

After animators for Louis C.K. comedy The Cops were laid off following TBS’s suspension of the show, art director Francis Giglio wrote a letter to C.K. and posted it on Facebook. “I am writing to you today to give a voice to another group of people that have been affected by your actions. The amazingly talented crew on The Cops that has been tirelessly working hard to create a unique prime time animated show. We now find ourselves out of a job right before the holiday season.”

That said, continued Giglio, “All of the stress and frustration that I find myself in now is nothing compared to the pain and distress you have caused those women. I will happily walk away from this project and any other project to fully support anyone that needs to come forward about sexual abuse or harassment.” C.K. was removed as exec producer and voice actor for the show.

Jeffrey Tambor is leaving Amazon’s Transparent, a decision he made after a co-star added to the sexual harassment allegations leveled by Tambor’s former assistant. I’ve already made clear my deep regret if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being aggressive, but the idea that I would deliberately harass anyone is simply and utterly untrue,” Tambor told Deadline. However, “Given the politicized atmosphere that seems to have afflicted our set, I don’t see how I can return to Transparent.” Amazon had launched an investigation into the allegations.

Also at Vulture Fest, Mike Schur, who has apologized for having had Louis C.K. on Parks and Recreation under his watch, said inappropriate behavior by now-former House of Cards star Kevin Spacey was hardly a secret. “If you think everyone knew about Louis, everybody knew about Kevin Spacey….You talk about open secret, it’s the most open secret that’s ever existed,” said Schur. “I didn’t know maybe the extent to which the behavior was predatory.”

Gene Simmons has been banned “for life” from Fox News, after bad behavior following a Fox & Friends appearance on Wednesday that included lewd comments and pedophilia jokes. The Kiss front man also whacked 2 female staffers on the head with a copy of the book he’s promoting.

Producer Marti Noxon (UnREAL) tweeted support for a former Mad Men writer who alleged the series’ creator, Matthew Weiner, sexually harassed her. Noxon, who had been a consultant on the series at the time, recalled the woman describing the incident the next day, saying it was a toxic work environment. “Everyone at Mad Men, regardless of gender or position, was affected by this atmosphere,” posted Noxon.

Whether Al Franken, the Saturday Night Live alum accused of forcibly kissing Leeann Tweeden and shown in a photo apparently groping his sleeping USO partner, should resign as Minnesota senator, was a hot topic over the weekend. In Franken’s corner were former SNL castmates including Rob Schneider, Laraine Newman, Victoria Jackson and Jane Curtin, who told the New York Times, “I have never seen him in a situation where he has been sexually aggressive with anybody.”

Were you surprised by Al Franken’s admitted sexual harassment? Let us know in the Cynopsis poll: http://cynopsis.com/poll/.
