Roadblock: The term Roadblock is used when an advertising campaign creative is the only brand on a particular webpage or site, taking over all ad sizes at once. Also called a Takeover.


The 2016 election will finally – finally – end tonight. (Unless of course there’s a drawn-out recount, but why torment you with horror scenarios?) In the latest sign that social media has become a key mechanism to reach younger voters, the Hillary Clinton super PAC Priorities USA has rolled out a new Snapchat lens that makes you look like, well, Hillary Clinton. Yup – even the pantsuit top. Not to be outdone, Donald Trump has secured today’s national geofilter ad, according to Snapchat parent Snap Inc.  
We now know a whole lot more about DirecTV Now, AT&T’s upcoming internet-based live TV service, thanks to Variety. The trade pub spotted some DirecTV Now customer support documents that the company accidentally released online. For one, the documents say that users who commit to at least three months of the service will be able to get a free Apple TV as part of a promotion. (For a one-month commitment, they’ll get a free Amazon Fire TV streaming stick, which is still pretty good.) More importantly, the leaked docs shed some more light on which channels the service will include. In addition to previously announced partners like Scripps and HBO, the service also looks set to feature Univision networks such as Galavision, UniMas. Also listed: Fox, Hallmark Channel, Sony Movie Channel, HDNet Movies, and CBS. Of course, none of this is official, and the service’s channel line-up could theoretically change before launch.
Rooster Teeth
is coming to TV…if you have an Apple TV or Xbox One. A Fullscreen Media-owned digital studio geared toward gamers and sci-fi fans, Rooster Teeth’s SVOD service is now up to about 200,000 subs. The service, rebranded as Rooster Teeth First in June, boasts over 5,000 hours of original content. Its new Apple TV and Xbox One apps come in addition to its existing iOS and Android apps. It was also already accessible via the Rooster Teeth website.

Apple is bringing in some help for its News app. The tech giant has teamed with Comcast’s NBCUniversal on a new partnership beginning in January. Under the deal, NBCU will exclusively handle all ad sales for Apple News. (Though publishers will still be allowed to sell their own ads alongside their articles, according to reports.) Recode reports that NBCU will even create a new ad sales team specifically for Apple News. Apple initially launched its News app in September 2015, envisioning it as a potential ad revenue behemoth. It looks like Apple decided to take more drastic steps to make that a reality.




The music video platform Vevo is out with a new GIF-making tool. The GIF-maker allows users to select snippets (of up to five seconds long) from music videos. The resulting looping GIFs can easily be shared via social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. To start, the tool will be available for Warner Music and Sony videos, but not those from Universal – at least not yet.
Hmm – maybe Vine’s six seconds of fame aren’t over just yet. According to a report from TechCrunch, Twitter has been approached by a number of companies interested in buying the vide-sharing app. (Twitter initially announced plans to shutter the service late last month.) TechCrunch reports that Twitter has already received “a large number of bids,” a number of them from Asian. One interested buyer mentioned in the report is Line, a Japanese messaging and gaming company.
