Good morning. It’s Tuesday November 7, 2017 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

NBC Olympics locked in cable channel assignments for the XXIII Olympic Winter Games this February from PyeongChang, South Korea, leveraging cable channels NBCSN, CNBC, and USA Network to carry more than 450 hours of coverage overall. NBCSN will serve as the cable home of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, picking up the bulk of the programming with 368.5 hours of coverage, including 10 days of wall-to-wall 24-hour coverage. Gold medal finals on NBCSN include hockey, snowboarding, short track, luge, and bobsled. For the first time ever, NBCSN will present live primetime coverage of a Winter Olympics, airing nearly every night throughout the Games.
CNBC is on deck to present 46 hours of coverage, again highlighted by evening curling telecasts. USA Network will air live curling and hockey as part of its 40.5 hours of live programming.

Sunday brought the bounty to CBS, which saw the NFL on CBS score a 15% spike in rating over last year’s Week 9 coverage, averaging an overnight household rating/share of 11.8/23 in the metered markets. The marks the franchise’s highest rating of the 2017 season with an average metered markets overnight HH rating/share of 14.2/26, up 11% for the national 4:25p battle between Dallas and Kansas City. Meanwhile, this year’s early 1p window of regional action earned an average HH rating/share of 9.2/19, up 18%.
Around the dial, Sunday Night Football suffered a drop, as the Raiders/Dolphins game notched a 9.6/16 in overnight numbers (not including digital) to lead NBC to a primetime victory. Top markets: Sacramento 16.1/27; New Orleans 16.1/22; San Francisco 14.3/27; Buffalo 14.2/22; Richmond 13.9/21.
In other ratings news, FOX Sports reports that Saturday’s college football war between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State delivered a 1.64 metered market rating on FS1 to rank as the channel’s best for a college football game this season.
Telemundo Deportes secured rights to broadcast the 2018 FIFA World Cup playoff game between Honduras and Australia on Friday, November 10. The match will simulcast live on Telemundo and Universo beginning at 4:30p, and  also will be available via the Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app and TelemundoDeportes.com.
Univision Deportes will deliver live broadcasts of three 2018 FIFA World Cup preparatory games featuring Mexico National Team (El Tri), Belgium, Poland and Portugal. The games will air Friday, November 10, Monday, November 13 and Tuesday, November 14.
Chris Jericho, six-time WWE world champion, is taking on hosting duties and will unmask some of the world’s greatest mysteries on Travel Channel in The Legend of…with Chris Jericho. Premiering Nov. 17 at 11p, the special investigates the legend of Butch Cassidy and the facts behind his most brazen heist in Castle Gate, Utah.
Friday will see the launch of a new season of Pac-12 men’s basketball begins with the return of Full Court Friday. Ten games will run live across all seven Pac-12 Networks channels with national coverage tipping off on Pac-12 Network with the Pac-12 Basketball Pregame Show,”presented by New York Life at 4:30p PT. Host Mike Yam and analysts Kevin O’Neill and Casey Jacobsen will preview the entire slate of 11 games for the day, including the 2017 Pac-12 China Game between UCLA and Georgia Tech.

opendorse closed $3.5 million in their Series A financing round with financing designed to support “the company’s commitment to helping athletes maximize the value of their social audience” with over 2,400 athletes using the platform to provide 1,500 brands with access to their 800mm followers on social. The latest round is a co-investment led by Serra Ventures with participation from existing investor, Flyover Capital. A group of former University of Nebraska football stars led by Chicago Bears cornerback, Prince Amukamara, contributed more than one third of the investment. Sean Bratches, Managing Director, Commercial Operations of Formula 1, Dan Mannix, President & CEO of LeadDog Marketing Group, and Peter Gardiner, former Chief Media Officer of Deutsch and current CEO of Gardiner & Partners, also participated in the round.

Major League Soccer and Fanatics pinned down a broad long-term global agreement that expands the scale and scope of Fanatics’ relationship with the League, beginning in 2019. The deal is highlighted by Fanatics gaining worldwide rights to exclusively produce MLS fan gear apparel, headwear and hard goods across all retail and wholesale channels. Under the new agreement, Fanatics and MLS will also work collaboratively to identify and secure additional best-in-class companies to grow the overall assortment of high quality products available to fans worldwide. “Fanatics has been a strong digital commerce partner of the League and our Clubs and we are looking forward to expanding our partnership and capitalizing on their expertise in licensed sports merchandising,” said Kathy Carter, President of Soccer United Marketing, MLS’ commercial arm. “We will be working closely with the Fanatics team to substantially expand our fanwear product assortments across all MLS Clubs, starting with the expanded categories that the Fanatics and Majestic brands will be bringing to the market.”

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is the latest heavyweight sports personality to make a significant investment in esports, snagging a majority stake (along with real estate magnate John Goff) in CompLexity Gaming. The Jones family and Goff’s Goff Holdings company will serve as the majority owners of the company, with CompLexity CEO and co-founder Jason Lake remaining in his position and retaining a minority interest with the team relocating to Frisco. Texas where, according to the team, they will build “a state-of-the-art operations center and global headquarters” at the new location.
Esports and sports management veterans, Drew Holt-Kentwell, founder of Catalyst Esports Solutions and former head of global esports at Razer, and Roger R. Quiles, esports attorney and sports agent, announced the launch of FTW Talent, a new global talent agency that will be headquartered in New York with offices in Singapore. The company will look to “set a higher standard of representation for aspiring and seasoned influencers in the esports industry by focusing on exceptional execution, one-to-one strategic analysis and guidance, and end-to-end career management” with main capabilities that include career guidance and protection; contract negotiation; pro-active search for endorsements, sponsorships and team placement opportunities; business management and monetization strategy; dispute resolution; and post-career management across the North American and Southeast Asian region.

Longtime MLB executive Bob Bowman said Monday that he will leave when his contract expires next month. Bowman has been with MLB for 17 years, starting as president and chief executive officer of MLB Advanced Media when it was founded in 2000.
Former United States midfielder Kyle Martino will take a hiatus from his role as an analyst for NBC Sports’ Premier League coverage to contend for president of the U.S. Soccer Federation.
