Adtech company IgnitionOne is closing
, according to a note to shareholders from CEO Bill Margiloff, reported in Business Insider. The firm recently cut head count and faces allegations from a former investment firm and two other adtech companies that it owes them money. Margiloff told investors the company had spent most of the year looking for a buyer, but struggled in a changing media environment. “The grounds have shifted in the digital market and we couldn’t get to safer ground in time,” he wrote.

Connected TV continues to dominate video advertising
, according to the 3Q Video Benchmarks Report from Extreme Reach. Trends include the steady rise of 30-second ads, which accounted for 66% of video ad impressions; 15-second spots declined to 32%. DTC and Auto ads showed an even larger investment in this length – for auto, 30-second spots accounted for 84%, while in the DTC category they rose to 97% of impressions by length.
YouTube Masthead ads for TV are out of beta and available to all advertisers
on a CPM basis. “It can be purchased as part of a seamless cross-screen buy that runs on mobile, desktop and TV screens or as part of a single-screen only buy that runs just on TV Screens,” wrote Anish Kattukaran, Product Manager, YouTube Ads, in a blog post. Fox was part of the beta test, to drive awareness of The Masked Singer, and the ad format got a thumbs up from Natalie Park, Fox’s VP of Media, who said, “This first-of-its-kind initiative reaches viewers where they live, right at their point of viewing, and with YouTube’s scale, it’s the perfect partnership and a fantastic way to promote our #1 show.” The format appears across the entire upper part of the TV app, and expands when a user hovers over the ad.

Producer/ director Arthur Marks died November 13. He was 92. In addition to work in films, Marks directed 76 episodes of Perry Mason, and produced 145 episodes of the legal drama.
Casting director Pam Polifroni passed away on November 21. She was 90. Among those to whom Polifroni gave early career boosts were Bruce Boxleitner, Corbin Bernsen, Genie Francis and Ted Danson.
