“Agatha: House of Harkness” is on the books at Disney+. The “WandaVision” spinoff centered on Kathryn Hahn’s villainous character was made official during Friday’s Disney+ Day event. The new series, which will center on Hahn’s Agatha, a Salem witch who was a breakout favorite, will be written and exec-produced by “WandaVision” creator Jac Schaeffer.
Couple of big recastings: Jane Krakowski stepped down from the role of Lily St. Regis in NBC’s upcoming “Annie Live!” after being diagnosed with a breakthrough case of Covid. “Smash” star Megan Hilty will step in as a replacement… At Apple TV+, Jennifer Garner will headline and exec produce limited series “The Last Thing He Told Me.” Garner replaces Julia Roberts, who had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts, in the show based based on the book of the same name and produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.
Paramount+ is closing the doors on adult animated comedy “The Harper House.” The series officially wrapped after one season, which concluded November 4.
NBC released its midseason schedule, which will see a Monday comedy block featuring the sophomore season of “Kenan,” and an all-“Law & Order” Thursday roster. Also coming up are the sixth and final season of “This Is Us,” set to debut January 4; new seasons of “Young Rock” and “Mr. Mayor”; “The Endgame,” a freshman drama; new comedies “American Auto” and “Grand Crew”; and limited series “The Thing About Pam,” starring Renee Zellweger.
NBC also announced it will be following up its “Super Bowl” coverage February 13 with another giant sporting event. The network will roll straight from the NFL showdown into Winter Olympics coverage. Frances Berwick, chairman, entertainment networks, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, called the scheduling dovetail a “once in a lifetime moment” for fans.
Yvonne Orji, the Nigerian American actress and comedian who co-stars in HBO’s “Insecure,” will host the in-person International Emmy Awards on Monday, November 22.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT
Mckenna Grace will headline and exec produce for Lifetime a sequel to the network’s “The Bad Seed.” For the new feature, set to premiere in 2022, Grace will reprise her role as Emma, which she first made her own alongside Rob Lowe. Grace co-wrote the script with her father, Ross Burge, and the 2018 film’s writer, Barbara Marshall. The sequel picks up with a 15-year-old Emma, who’s living with her aunt after her father was murdered in the first film.
Netflix handed a three-season renewal to the “Crime Scene” anthology series. Directed by Joe Berlinger, who helmed “Some Kind of Monster,” the documentary series’ first run, “The Vanishing At The Cecil Hotel,” was watched by 45 million households on the streamer during its first four weeks. Follow-up “Crime Scene: The Times Square Killer” is set to debut Wednesday, December 29 and will examine the social and systemic forces around New York’s Times Square in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s that enabled one man to commit unthinkable acts.
Netflix also dropped a first look at an untitled holiday rom-com starring Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet, on tap for the 2022 holiday season. The tagline notes the story will follow a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident, suffers from total amnesia and finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.
NBC renewed disaster drama “La Brea” for a second season. The series is from writer David Appelbaum, who exec-produces with Avi Nir, Alon Shtruzman, Peter Traugott, Rachel Kaplan, Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt and Ken Woodruff… also at the network, “AGT: Extreme,” the spinoff of the longtime NBC hit, is headed back to the air in midseason after production was halted after an on-set accident injured stuntman Jonathan Goodwin.
Disney+ is moving full steam ahead on “Echo,” a spinoff from Marvel’s “Hawkeye,” which has yet to premiere. The spinoff will center on Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American superhero whose power is her ability to imitate any opponent’s fighting style. Alaqua Cox is onboard to play Maya, who will be introduced during the series’ run, beginning Wednesday, November 24. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are writing and exec-producing.
Also in the Marvel universe, the streamer ordered animated series “Marvel Zombies” as well as comics-rooted “X-Men ‘97” and “Spider-Man: Freshman Year.”
Additionally, “Obi-Wan Kenobi” is on the books for next year on Disney+. The series will pick up following the events of “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.” A sizzle reel revealed concept drawings for the series, which returns Ewan McGregor as the OG sage Jedi.
Other Disney+ Day Doings: Pixar’s “Cars” spinoff series, now titled “Cars on the Road,” will feature Mater (voiced by Larry the Cable Guy) and Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) on a cross-country road trip and is slated for a 2022 debut… Stella Meghie (“The Photograph”) will direct and write long-form animated musical series “Tiana,” coming to Disney+ in 2023. The titular character gets called back to her New Orleans roots soon after she’s crowned Princess of Maldonia… Disney is working on a second film in its “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” animated franchise. “Rodrick Rules” will debut on Disney+ in 2022. The streamer is also prepping a series adaptation of “The Spiderwick Chronicles.” The books originally were adapted to film by Nickelodeon and Paramount in 2008.

Disney+ tweeted a 90-second clip from Peter Jackson’s docuseries “The Beatles: Get Back,” which will air as a three-night event beginning Thursday, November 25… the streamer also released a first trailer for “Sneakerella,” which premieres February 18. Set in the NY’s street-sneaker subculture, the original movie is a music-fueled, gender-flipped take on the classic “Cinderella” fairy tale that follows an aspiring sneaker designer from Queens with big dreams.
Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte are finally ready for their new closeup. HBO Max set the premiere of “And Just Like That…” for Thursday, December 9. The much-anticipated current chapter in the “Sex and the City” franchise will debut two episodes that day, with the remaining eight episodes debuting weekly on subsequent Thursdays.

Nickelodeon will air a new edition of Nick News Wednesday, November 17 at 7:30p featuring stars of its series “Side Hustle.” Jules LeBlanc and Jayden Bartels share ways they manage cyber bullies, and what they’re doing to help make the Internet a safer space for everyone.
BET+ is all in for the holidays, with a slate of celebratory films that continues with “The Jenkins Family Christmas,” about a family adjusting to new dynamics, debuting November 18. Next up is “Christmas Deja Vu,” November 25, which follows a downtrodden woman who meets an angel who grants her wish for the life of a famous singer.
“Malfunction: The Dressing Down of Janet Jackson” premieres Friday, November 19 at 10p on FX and Hulu. Directed by Jodi Gomes, doc dives into the culture-shaking, career-changing 9/16th of a second during the 2004 Super Bowl.
The “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony” heads to the HBO stage on Saturday, November 20 at 8p. The event, which features moments like Paul McCartney welcoming Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson inducting Carole King airs on HBO and HBO Max.
FETV is spending Thanksgiving with the Cleavers. The net’s “Leave It to Beaver” marathon will run from 11a-4p on Thursday, November 25 featuring 10 episodes, including “Brotherly Love,” “Friendship,” and “Beaver’s First Date,” The marathon will be preceded by Thanksgiving eps of “The Beverly Hillbillies” and “Hazel.’
“Best Christmas Ever” returns to AMC and AMC+ beginning Monday, November 29, with a lineup of more than 55 holiday titles merrily hosted by Beverly D’Angelo, star of “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.” Also on the roster are classics including “The Polar Express,” “Four Christmases” and “Fred Claus” plus new entries like “Silent Night,” starring Kiera Knightly and directed by Camille Griffin, which debuts Friday, December 3.
HBO feature doc “Adrienne” debuts Wednesday, December 1 at 8p. Directed by Andy Ostroy, the late Adrienne Shelly’s husband, the feature is a both celebration of the life and work of the actor, filmmaker, wife and mother, and a personal exploration of grief.
AXS TV announced the US premiere of 2021 music doc “Tomorrow Is A Long Time: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan,” airing Wednesday, December 1 at 8p. The intimate profile captures Pretenders frontwoman Hynde in her own words, putting her spin on some of Dylan’s most iconic works.
“The Real Housewives of the North Pole”—aka Kyle Richards and Betsy Brandt in scripted, scandal-infused roles—begins streaming Thursday, December 9 on Peacock.

Spotify is expanding into audiobooks with the purchase of Findaway, an audiobook company that provides tech that helps authors distribute and produce their audiobooks, and also sells preloaded audiobook players.
Disney is partnering with TikTok on a tech that enables users of the app to add text-to-speech sounds from popular characters across its Star Wars, Marvel and Disney Animation brands. Chewbacca and C-3PO are among character voices to be available in the TikTok realm.

Food Network’s “Holiday Wars” premiere outing Sunday, November 7 was seen by more than 2 million P2+ viewers. The 9p premiere posted a 0.7 A25-54/1.0 W25-54 L3 rating, marking the series’ highest-rated opening.
The Tuesday, November 9 episode of OWN’s “Queen Sugar” posted its highest-delivering ep of the season (1.0 million P2+) as the show’s total viewership grew for the fourth airing in a row.
“Yellowstone” crushed more of its previously set records. The Sunday, November 7 season 4 premiere across Paramount Network and three simulcasts on CMT, Pop and TV Land, in L+3 drew 12.7 million total viewers, up 66 percent over the season 3 premiere. Gavan O’Herlihy, who for a short stint played Chuck Cunningham, the older brother of Ron Howard’s Richie on “Happy Days,” has died of undisclosed causes. He was 70. O’Herlihy had a long and prolific career that included roles in Howard-directed 1988 film “Willow” and appearances on numerous series and miniseries including “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “Lucas Tanner,” “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” “The Six Million Dollar Man” and “The Bionic Woman.” The Dublin-born actor also landed TV roles in hit CBS miniseries “Lonesome Dove” as well as in episodes of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks,” among other gigs.
