IN THE NEWS

NBCU says Bravo to shoppable programming. The company is expanding commerce capabilities across its One Platform with the addition of a social-first livestream shopping show and an immersive VR experience to kick off the holidays. “Impulse Try with Remi Bader,” which debuts on Instagram, Facebook and Xfinity over Thanksgiving Weekend, will feature “Bravolebrities” including Meredith Marks, Anisha Ramakrishna, Reza Farahan and Whitney Rose. Meanwhile, debuting this week is the Virtual Bravo Bazaar, an AR-driven interactive shopping experience that provides an immersive escape for Bravoholics, created in partnership with virtual store platform Obsess. “People come to our platform to be entertained, but we do have tremendous ability to inspire them to go shopping,” said Josh Feldman, CMO for NBCU’s advertising and partnerships group.

Also in on the holiday shopping spirit is YouTube, which from November 15-22, will hosting the YouTube Holiday Stream and Shop, a week of shoppable livestreams hosted by buzzy creators and brands.

Hold your fire, another season of “Squid Game is on the way. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk confirmed to The Associated Press that the global Netflix sensation will be back for another round. “There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice!” Hwang told AP earlier this week. “But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”

The “Search Party” is over. The thriller comedy series, which premiered on TBS in 2016 before moving to HBO Max for its third season, will wrap after season 5, which premieres January 7 on the streamer.

Just in time for holiday programming, Crown Media Family Networks and YouTube TV reached an agreement to launch Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, and Hallmark Drama on the streaming service. The launch of Crown Media’s linear networks expands Hallmark’s footprint on YouTube TV, which already carries the company’s SVOD service, Hallmark Movies Now, as an optional add-on offering.

The Television Academy updated eligibility requirements for its Producers Peer Group including the addition of a Location Managers subgroup. The move means for the first time qualifying location managers and assistant location managers will be eligible for either active or associate membership.

Cinedigm is among early adopters of the tech.

Pixalate introduced an ad fraud Supply Path Optimization (SPO) technology for programmatic ads across CTV, mobile apps and websites.
