Good morning. It’s Tuesday November 6, 2018 and this is your first early morning Sports briefing.

The U.S. Olympic Committee is moving forward to revoke USA Gymnastics’ status as the governing body for the sport at the Olympic level, following the sex-abuse scandal involving former team doctor Larry Nassar and multiple botched attempts to reorganize. In an open letter to the gymnastics community, USOC CEO Sarah Hirshland stated that the USOC filed a complaint initiating a Section 8 proceeding against USA Gymnastics, releasing a statement that “You might be asking why now? The short answer is that we believe the challenges facing the organization are simply more than it is capable of overcoming in its current form. We have worked closely with the new USAG board over recent months to support them, but despite diligent effort, the NGB continues to struggle. And that’s not fair to gymnasts around the country. Even weeks ago, I hoped there was a different way forward. But we now believe that is no longer possible.”
Next steps will follow a process based on the USOC Bylaws that will see a review panel identified, a hearing held, a report issued and a recommendation made. Then the USOC board will vote to continue to recognize USAG, or to revoke that status, according to the announcement.

Hulman & Company revealed the formation of IndyCar Media, which will serve as the in-house global distribution arm of IndyCar’s international media rights. The initiative will now see IndyCar Media secure deals with more than two dozen licensees representing more than 100 countries broadcasting IndyCar Series races. IMS Productions, also owned by Hulman & Company, will continue to create the televised world feed distributed globally.
PricewaterhouseCoopers released its annual PwC Sports Outlook, forecasting the North American sports market to swell at an annual rate of 3%, shifting from $69.1 billion in 2017 to $80.3 billion in 2022 and spanning media rights, gate revenues, sponsorship, and merchandising. PwC projects that gate revenues will increase at a compound annual rate of 2.2%, from an estimated $19 billion in 2017 to a projected $21.2 billion in 2022, while sponsorship will top $20 billion in 2022, with licensed merchandise sales expected to increase at a compound annual rate of 1.2% percent to a projected $15.2 billion in 2022.
ESPN announced that the State Farm Champions Classic – the annual neutral site doubleheader featuring Duke, Kansas, Kentucky and Michigan State taking place tonight– has been renewed through 2022. The event will now hit Chicago in 2020, New York City in2021 and Indianapolis in 2022. The inaugural game was held at Madison Square Garden in 2011 followed by the Georgia Dome in 2012. “We are excited to continue with this marquee event, as it has become a fixture on the college basketball landscape,” said Pete Derzis, ESPN senior vice president of college sports programming and events.” The credit goes to these four outstanding programs for coming together annually to launch the season.”
NBC Sports saw the Packers/Patriots battle on SNF mark the best Week 9 overnight rating in the 13-year history of NBC’s franchise with a 15.6/26 Nielsen score, not including digital. That mark best the previous week 9 record by 3% and is up 63% from last year’s Week 9 SNF game.
FOX’s NFL doubleheader on Sunday drew a 15.2/29 metered market score from Nielsen, for a rise of 6% over last year’s matchup. Meanwhile, FOX NFL Sunday notched its best metered market rating of the season, with a 3.7/10 and up 19% over last season’s week 9 edition.
CBS Sports’ NFL singleheader average on Sunday, saw an uptick of 23% for Week 9 of the NFL season.. The package drew a 10.0/21 average household rating/share over last year’s 8.1/17 for the comparable singleheader coverage in Week 10 in the metered markets.
Speaking of CBS, the network locked in its SEC on CBS picks for the remainder of the season, leading up to the SEC Championship on Dec. 1 at 4p between Alabama and Georgia. The slate will include the Nov. 10 doubleheader of Ole Miss/Texas A&M and Mississippi State/Alabama, the Nov. 17 Missouri/Tennessee contest, Arkansas/Missouri on Nov. 23, and Auburn/Alabama on Nov. 24.  
Floyd Mayweather locked in a fight with Japanese kickboxing superstar Tenshin Nasukawa at Rizin 14 at Saitama Super Arena in Japan on New Year’s Eve. According to the org, the weight class hasn’t been locked in yet and the contest will be fought under special rules.
As the 2018-19 college basketball season set to tip off, Pac-12 Networks announced its programming and coverage plans surrounding men’s and women’s basketball. The regular season begins tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 6, with “Tip-off Tuesday” as six of seven men’s games air across Pac-12 Networks and will be available to all fans via the Pac-12 Now app.  Pac-12 Networks is set to provide extensive pre and postgame coverage around its 149 men’s basketball games with the Pac-12 Basketball Pregame Show, Pac-12 Gamebreak and Pac-12 Postgame Report. New this season will see the platform take its show on the road with on-site pre and postgame coverage during conference play at select men’s basketball games. Also new this season, Pac-12 Playlist will continue to provide the latest news and coverage in a short-form fashion from around all Pac-12 sports.

FanDuel and the National Hockey League announced a multi-year partnership that designates FanDuel as the exclusive official daily fantasy partner and an official sports betting partner of the NHL. FanDuel also signed a partnership with the New Jersey Devils, marking FanDuel’s first agreement in the sports betting category with an NHL team. The new NHL agreement will provide FanDuel with opportunities to offer its daily fantasy customers access to exclusive NHL content and special prizing such as VIP experiences to NHL events. FanDuel plans to promote free-to-enter single-game fantasy contests for the NHL Winter Classic, NHL Stadium Series and other marquee matchups throughout the NHL season.

Electronic Arts Inc. and On Location Experiences unveiled the musical lineup for EA SPORTS BOWL at the Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest in Atlanta taking place Jan. 31 from State Farm Arena for the Welcome to Atlanta Showcase. The show will feature Ludacris and friends, a Quality Control Music showcase featuring rap group Migos, Lil Yachty, and Lil Baby, plus Metro Boomin and a special guest will hit the stage, as well as a DJ set from Lil Jon and more. The Bud Light Super Bowl Music Fest will span three days from Jan 31-Feb 2.

ESPN+ subscribers will be able to access to more than 200 NBA G League season games per season, offering multiple NBA G League games per day each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday throughout the season. The new agreement significantly expands coverage of the G League across ESPN platforms, adding to existing coverage of G League games, including regular season, Playoffs and the G League Finals on ESPN’s linear television networks.
FloSports and the NCAA and NCAA Digital – managed by Turner Sports – announced the third year of a four-year agreement, to provide live and on-demand coverage of the 2018 Division I, II and III Cross Country Championships on FloTrack.com. CBS Sports Digital launched a new podcast, The Season: 2008 Steelers, with former Pittsburgh cornerback and current CBS Sports HQ analyst Bryant McFadden as he brings in teammates and coaches to break down that season week-by-week.

The NFL’s newest target is Epic Games’ Fortnite, with the league announcing that – beginning Nov. 9 – official NFL team “outfits” will be available in the Battle Royale Item Shop allowing fans to purchase and customize up to eight outfits representing their favorite NFL teams. In addition to NFL team outfits, football-themed emotes, harvesting tools, gliders, and even a referee outfit will be offered. Once a player owns an NFL team outfit they will be able to choose a uniform from any of the League’s 32 teams and customize the jersey with a number of their choice (1-99). The NFL team outfits will be available as both male and female figures and can be customized with a different team/number each time a player uses the outfit in Fortnite.
G2 Esports and paysafecard are teaming up to invite Fortnite influencers from around the world to enter the newest talent show aimed at finding the next four top content creators in Fortnite, titled Making the Squad. The show, further backed by Logitech G and Esport-Management, will have Fortnite enthusiasts and influencers compete in a series of interactive online challenges, for a chance to secure one of four full-time streaming contracts with the club and access to a global audience in the #G2ARMY.
The Global Association of International Sports Federations announced that Los Angeles won the bid to host the inaugural World Urban Games in September 2019, and stage the next edition of the Games in 2021. The Games will “showcase the skill, style and power of athletes from around the globe in a variety of new-generation sports competitions” and include a World Urban Games festival and esports program. Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, chairman and CEO of NantWorks, will chair the World Urban Games L.A. Organizing Committee, which is responsible for staging the event. Jenny Mann and Rick Fox will serve as co-managing directors of the organizing committee.
