Netflix renewed Stranger Things for a fourth season, and inked an overall deal for series and films with creators and showrunners The Duffer Brothers. The streamer made the announcement in a video that ends with, “We’re not in Hawkins Anymore.”

Sinclair Broadcast Group stations are still alive on AT&T’s U-Verse and DirecTV, despite a deadline for a deal that passed on September 27. Warnings of a blackout on stations’ websites have been removed, and Sinclair said, “We continue to work with AT&T to maintain access to our programming.” A blackout would affect viewers of 136 stations in 86 markets, as well as Tennis Channel.

President Trump significantly outspent any other 2020 presidential candidate on Facebook advertising in the first half of 2019, for a total of $16.9 million from January-June 24. Bernie Sanders came in a distant second, with $6.2 million. (“Some of Trump’s investment may be more geared towards shifting attitudes on specific issues rather than just his re-election campaign,” acknowledged Kantar.) Total political advertising on Facebook reached $37.6 million, versus $2.2 million on TV. Kantar estimates total political advertising for the election will reach $3.2 billion for broadcast TV; $1.2 billion for cable TV; $1.2 billion for digital media; and $400 million for radio.

A September 19 appearance on CNN was cited in a subpoena issued on Monday to Rudy Giuliani by House Democrats, who are pursuing an impeachment inquiry over President Trump’s efforts to have Ukraine investigate former Vice President Joe Biden. “During an interview on CNN , Chris Cuomo asked you, ‘So did you ask Ukraine to look into Joe Biden?’ You responded, ‘Of course I did,’” said committee chairmen in a letter to Giuliani. Trump’s lawyer has said the State Department was aware of his actions regarding Ukraine.

Jerry Seinfeld won a lawsuit that claimed he was not the one who came up with the idea for his Netflix show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. A judge ruled that Christian Charles, who said he had worked with Seinfeld since 1994 and mentioned the idea for “Two Stupid Guys in a Car Driving to a Stupid Town” as early as 2002, waited too long to file his lawsuit, exceeding the statute of limitations. “This lawsuit was nothing but a money-grab seeking to capitalize on the success of the show,” said Seinfeld’s lawyer. “We are pleased that the court saw through the noise.”
