IN THE NEWS

Late night hosts Stephen Colbert (The Colbert Report), Jimmy Fallon (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon) and Jimmy Kimmel (Jimmy Kimmel Live) join the roster of presenters for an Emmys that awards telecast and Late Night host Seth Meyers promises will be “upbeat and fun.” Find out Monday, August 25 at 8p on NBC.

The fun actually started before the show even began, with a promo for the Emmys that features nominees Julia Louis-Dreyfus (VEEP) and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in a send-up of pawn shop reality shows. The 6-minute clip has Louis-Dreyfus attempting to pawn an Emmy from her Seinfeld days, which fails to impress the owners of Barely Legal Pawn. “You know what they say, comedy is easy, drama is hard,” drawls Paul. Video comes from Audi of America, a sponsor of this year’s awards show.

The pilot for upcoming ABC comedy Selfie is available on Hulu, ahead of its premiere on Tuesday, September 30 at 8p. Series focuses on a social media star who needs to rebrand her reputation after a workplace slip-up.

In another indication of the longer shelf life of scripted series versus reality shows, CBS’s Under the Dome got a big enough lift in Live+7 data among A18-49 to count as the number one program in the demo for the episode debuting July 28, passing ABC’s The Bachelorette, NBC’s American Ninja Warrior and Fox’s MasterChef.

Food Network’s Rachael vs. Guy: Kids Cook-Off posted a .8 among A25-54 on Sunday, up 14 percent from last season’s premiere to rank number three in cable at 8p. The season five premiere of Great Food Truck Race drew the same rating in the demo, placing it number four in cable at 9p.

TNT’s Major Crimes ended its summer run as basic cable’s top program for the week. The summer finale has drawn 7.3 million viewers in Live + 3, including 2.0 million A25-54 and 1.6 million A18-49.
