HBO nabbed the most awards at the Creative Arts Emmys Saturday night. NBC was second with ten – including five for Saturday Night Live, the most for any series  while PBS brought home eight and Fox and Netflix each won seven. Among the winners: Orange Is the New Black’s Uzo Aduba for Outstanding Guest Actress, Hollywood Game Night’s Jane Lynch for Outstanding Host for a Reality Program, Discovery’s Deadliest Catch for Unstructured Reality Program, Shark Tank for Structured Reality Program and Showtime’s Years of Living Dangerously for Outstanding Documentary. A two-hour edited version of the presentation airs Sunday, August 24 on FXM, the day before the live 66th Annual Primetime Emmys on NBC. For more winners go here.

IN THE NEWS

Craig Ferguson is in final negotiations to host a syndicated talker for Tribune Media in a 7p time slot. Ferguson announced in April that he would leave CBS’s Late Late Show in December; he hosts syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game starting in fall 2015.

Former Vice President Al Gore, whose CurrentTV was sold for $500 million and rebranded Al Jazeera America, is suing for fraud and breach of contract, claiming AJA withheld $65 million of proceeds from the sale. “Our outside counsel is reviewing the complaint,” said the net. “We think it relates to a commercial dispute between former shareholders of Current Media and Al Jazeera America.”

After a promo photo for period drama Downton Abbey made headlines because it showed an historically inaccurate plastic water bottle on the mantelpiece beside Lord Grantham and Lady Edith, ITV released another photo of the cast, all holding bottles, in support of the charity WaterAid. “The cast and crew came up with the idea of turning some of this attention towards an issue around water that really matters,” said a statement. Season five of Downton premieres Stateside in January 2015.

BET is launching its largest prize giveaway ever. Grand prize: a “BET We Got You Season Pass,” for six all-expense-paid trips to each BET award show and events in 2015 (2015: BET Honors, Black Girls Rock!, BET Awards, Hip Hop Awards,Soul Train Awards and the BET Experience). The “BET Tune In & Turn Up! Watch & Win Sweepstakes” follows the BET Awards’ drawing 7.9 million viewers and 11 million tweets in June; contest runs today, August 18 through September 29. Viewers can get codes by watching BET and enter to win at bet.com/turnup.

WWE debuted a new logo on Twitter. The company describes the symbol as “a more contemporary, bold and powerful image while maintaining the iconic ‘W,’ which has been part of the company’s long-storied history.” Logo got its on-air premiere during SummerSlam on Sunday.

PRODUCTION & DEVELOPMENT

Starz and Sony Pictures Television have teamed for a second season of Outlander. The 16-ep season one premiered August 9, surpassing five million multiplatform views in the first week. 

CBS gave a put pilot commitment to an untitled comedy from Dan Sterling (The Office) and Phil Lord & Chris Miller (The Lego Movie), reports Deadline. The project comes from 20th Century Fox Television.

Also at 20th Century Fox TV: Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting), who signed a two-year overall deal with the studio, according to Deadline. Caron is an exec producer on FX drama Tyrant.

Stu Zicherman (Six Degrees) has a show in development at Showtime, a half-hour comedy project from True Jack Prods. about modern dating.

While showrunner Ed Bernero (Criminal Minds) is leaving NBC spy thriller State of Affairs, EW reports it’s not because of any friction with star Katherine Heigl. Affairs premieres Monday, November 17 at 10p.

Connor Hines landed a blind script deal with ABC Studios for a half-hour project. Hines is creator and star of Kickstarter-funded web series Local Attraction.

Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars) will host the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Sunday, August 24. Red carpet coverage will include performances from Charli XCX and X Factor-created Fifth Harmony.

If the tiara fits: Primetime soap queen Joan Collins (Dynasty) has been cast in a guest starring role on E!’s first scripted series, The Royals, as mom to Elizabeth Hurley’s Queen Helena. Drama is slated for a 2015 premiere.

Bex Taylor-Klaus is replacing Amy Forsyth (Reign) in MTV pilot Scream. Also added: Connor Weil (Sharknado), Bobby Campo (The Final Destination) and Joel Gretsch (The 4400).

James Belushi (According to Jim), Terry Kinney (Oz) and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) were added to the cast of HBO’s Show Me a Hero. Oscar Isaac and Catherine Keener star in the six-hour miniseries.

Yeardley Smith (The Simpsons) joins the cast of ABC sudser Revenge, reports TVLine. Season four launches Sunday, September 28 at 10p.

Ryan McPartlin (Chuck) guests on an arc of NBC’s upcoming Bad Judge, as a love interest for the main character, played by Kate Walsh (Private Practice). Series premiered Thursday, October 2 at 9p.

NBC’s Last Comic Standing hit a nine-week high among A18-49 for its season eight finale, averaging 1.4/5 in its two hours. The season finale of Fox’s Gang Related was up 17 percent in the demo versus last week, with .7/2.
 
Thursday A18-49 Analysis: UNI scored the most A18-49 viewers Thursday with 1.6/6, according to final primetime national ratings from Nielsen. Univision won 8p with 1.5/6 for Mi Corazon Es Tuyo, followed by a 1.4/6 average for CBS’s The Big Bang Theory and The Millers. CBS topped 9p with 2.2/8 for Big Brother, versus 2.1/7 for Univision’s Que Vida Me Robo.
