IN THE NEWS

Former NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams is getting his own, half-hour show on MSNBC to recap the day’s presidential election news. Though Williams has been a frequent anchor on MSNBC since his return from a six-month suspension in 2015 for misstatements about war reporting in 2003, the 11p cable show, set to run through the election in November, will be his first regularly scheduled program. NBC News is considering a Labor Day launch.

Donald Trump’s camp is denying that departed Fox News chief Roger Ailes is advising the presidential candidate as he prepares for upcoming debates with Hillary Clinton. “This is not accurate. He is not advising Mr. Trump or helping with debate prep,” Trump’s campaign said Tuesday in a statement credited to spokeswoman Hope Hicks. “They are longtime friends, but he has no formal or informal role in the campaign.”

For the first time since 2007, Britney Spears will perform at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards. Spears’ new album drops two days before the VMAs air live from Madison Square Garden on Sunday, August 28 at 9p.

I Am Cait, focused on Caitlyn Jenner, won’t make it to season three on E!. Said a spokesperson, “Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time. She will always remain a part of the E! family, and we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.” Series debuted in 2015.

Halloween Horror Nights are about to get scarier at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort. FX’s American Horror Story is headed to the theme parks beginning Friday, September 16, two days after the show’s Season 6 premiere. Guests will experience three chapters of the series via a Murder House, Freak Show and Hotel.

Producers Guild of America has announced that Tina Fey and Chris Rock will be the featured speakers at this year’s Produced By: New York conference on Saturday, October 29 at the Time Warner Center. “Tina Fey and Chris Rock are each living proof that you can be an excellent producer while being the funniest person in the room,” said PGA Presidents Lori McCreary and Gary Lucchesi
