IN THE NEWS

Despite his big, social media-fueled beef with GOP debate moderator Megyn Kelly, Donald Trump will sit down for an interview with Fox and Friends this morning (August 11). Co-host Steve Doocy took to Twitter to announce the news.

Viewership of live television may be down, but “as long as we continue to monetize, which we are, there is not concern that there are less people watching,” said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler at TCA on Monday. “More people are watching CBS now [across platforms] than were watching 11 years ago,” added the exec, emphasizing the importance of content ownership. “We still win at the end.”

Tassler also addressed the question of whether summer series Under the Dome and Extant, which have dipped in the ratings, will return. “We will wait until the end of the summer to make a decision,” said the exec – but it’s not just about the Nielsens. Thanks to streaming dollars, “we make money from those shows.”

In the first for a U.S. Hispanic TV network, Azteca America is offering sponsored closed captioning spots. The network partnered with Impressions Media Group and IMG Espanol, which will be the exclusive provider of 10-second closed captioning sponsorships.

Be among industry peers and celebrate the year’s best achievements at the Cynopsis Kids !magination Awards. We will be recognizing four of the industry’s top programming pioneers along with dozens of category winners, on September 18 at the New York Yale Club. Adam Bonnett (Disney Channels Worldwide); Russell Hicks (Nickelodeon Group); Rob Sorcher (Cartoon Network), and Tara Sorensen (Amazon Studios) will receive the 2015 Content Leadership Award, and will be on hand to participate in a roundtable “State of Kids Content” discussion. Register for the Breakfast event here.
