Kirstie won’t make to a sophomore season – TV Land declined to renew the comedy starring Kirstie Alley, Rhea Perlman (Cheers) and Michael Richards (Seinfeld). Creator/showrunner Marco Pennette left the series at the end of its first season.
Odd couple Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett announced on Tuesday’s Today show that they’ll be featured in a concert special to air on PBS Friday, October 24 at 9p. The singers’ jazz album, "Cheek to Cheek," drops September 23.
Apple TV added a CNBC channel and on-demand app FOX NOW to its content offerings. Viewers can watch the financial net live, or access clips and shows. FOX NOW offers full episodes of Fox shows including The Simpsons and Brooklyn Nine-Nine the day after they air, as well as bonus content. Cable subscription is required.
The Television Academy Foundation announced prizes for its "Emmy Season Auction." Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter inked a new overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television and a first-look development deal with FX, reports Variety. Sutter will oversee the seventh and final season of Anarchy, premiering Tuesday, September 9 at 10p, then get to work on FX’s The Bastard Executioner. Dr. Phil was the top talker the week of July 14, up 8 percent to 2.7 and the only daytime show in the top ten to see a lift week to week. Live with Kelly and Michael held on to last week’s 2.6 rating, up 8 percent versus last year.
Dish Nation hit a five-month high (tying the week of February 2), and matched its all-time high with a 1.1 HH rating the week of July 14, according to Nielsen.
AHC had its best July since its 2005 launch as Military Channel in Prime for delivery among P2+ (227,000) and HH (190,000), as well as in Total Day for delivery among P2+ (154,000) and HH (136,000).
Velocity boasted its highest-rated July in primetime among P/M25-54 and M18-34, and its highest-delivering July in Primetime for all target demos including HH, P/M18-49, P/M25-54, P/M18-34, P18+ and P2+.
Cooking Channel delivered its highest-rated and most-watched Saturday night ever on July 26, with a .26 coverage area rating among A25-54 and .3 among W25-54. Ratings were up nearly 600 percent for A25-54 versus year-ago, and up 830 percent for the same time period among A18-49.
