Don Todd, co-creator of Samantha Who?, inked a two-year overall deal with ABC Studios. As part of the agreement, he’ll serve as EP and showrunner on new legal drama For The People, from ABC Studios and Shonda RhimesShondaland.

FremantleMedia has teamed with bestselling author Heather Lende to develop Find The Good. Drama series is inspired by Lende’s memoir of the same name and earlier book, If You Lived Here, I’d Know Your Name.

Season 5 of History’s Vikings sets sail with a 2-hour launch on Wednesday, November 29 at 9p. “When [creator and writer] Michael Hirst told us his epic plans for the season premiere, we needed two hours to tell it properly,” said Arturo Interian, SVP, scripted programming.
 
FX set Tuesday, September 5 at 10p as the premiere date for American Horror Story: Cult. It’s the seventh installment of the anthology series.
 
MSNBC launches The Beat with Ari Melber on Monday, July 24 at 6p. The hour fills the slot left vacant by the sudden cancellation last month of the short-lived For the Record with Greta Van Susteren.
 
Anne Burrell and Rachael Ray return to lead a culinary boot camp on Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition, launching Wednesday, August 23 at 9p on Food Network.
 
Telemundo debuts a new season of Sin Senos Si Hay Paraiso on Tuesday, July 25 at 9p.
 
Raycom Sports summer TV series Havoline Football Saturdays begins its 14th season this weekend. Hosted by Tim Brando, the show is syndicated in over 100 markets throughout the US.
 
The setting for FXX’s Archer shifts from LA to “Danger Island,” a remote beach in the South Pacific, for season 9, it was revealed at Comic-Con. After a dark season 8, things will lighten up with “quicksand, cannibals, and super intelligent monkeys,” said exec producer Matt Thompson. Animated series returns in 2018.

The CW took the opportunity at Comic-Con to flesh out 3 new season 4 characters on The Flash: Danny Trejo (Machete) will play bounty hunter Breacher; Neil Sandilands (The 100) tackles DC villain Clifford Devoe, aka The Thinker, and Kim Engelbrecht (Dominion) has been set as DC character The Mechanic.
 
Also on CW: James Remar (Dexter) and Damon Gupton (Bates Motel) have joined the cast of Black Lightning, premiering midseason, and Robert Knepper was upped to series regular in Season 4 of iZombie. Crossing paths with Supergirl during season 3 will be Adrian Pasdar (Heroes) as a ruthless real estate developer; Carl Lumbly (Alias) as DC character M’yrnn J’onzz, and Yael Grobglas (Reign) as DC character Psi. And Lost alum Michael Emerson was added to the season 6 cast of Arrow.
 
Wilson Cruz joins fellow Rent alum Anthony Rapp as Rapp’s character’s love interest on CBS All AccessStar Trek: Discovery. Rapp plays the TV series’ first openly gay character, Lt. Stamets. The show premieres on CBS September 24; new episodes will arrive weekly on the streaming service.
 
Joseph Reitman (Money Monster) nabbed the lead role in upcoming Syfy series Happy!, while Patton Oswalt takes over voiceover duties from Bobby Moynihan, who voiced Happy the Horse in the pilot. Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost) will recur on season 3 of the net’s The Expanse.
 
Neil Jackson (Abesntia) and Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom) are onboard the sophomore season cast of HBO’s Westworld….Crystal Reed (Teen Wolf) is joining the season 3 cast of Fox drama Gotham….Tom Welling (Smallville) was added to the season 3 cast of Fox’s Lucifer, as a charismatic police lieutenant.

Big Bad Boo Studios renewed Lila & Lola for a second season, delivering another five seven-minute episodes to multiple platforms, including bilingual VOD platform, Oznoz. Targeting preschoolers, it follows the adventures of two sisters living in a small apartment in a big city.

The audience for a Netflix Comic-Con panel on upcoming superhero show The Defenders got a surprise when an entire episode was shown in addition to the trailer (it was a hit) with the crowd. Series premieres on the streaming service August 18. Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb also announced the season 2 renewal of Iron Fist.
 
Amazon Prime acquired Tin Star from Endemol Shine International and Sky Vision for streaming in the U.S. The revenge thriller, starring Tim Roth and Christina Hendricks, debuts later this year.
 
Hulu is developing The Act, a true-crime anthology from Nick Antosca (Channel Zero) and Michelle Dean that focuses on one case each season. The first story is based on Dean’s Buzzfield article, “Dee Dee Wanted Her Daughter To Be Sick, Gypsy Wanted Her Mom to Be Murdered.”
 
Complex Networks unveiled its Q3 original programming lineup with five series available on go90. Among them, Gnarkatz and Boonies join the previously announced Road to Race Day from Film 45.
