Madeleine Albright is heading to prime time. The former Secretary of State has been tapped to appear in an upcoming episode of CBS‘ Madam Secretary playing herself, advising Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) how to handle a situation with the national security adviser that threatens to ruin her relationship with the president.
NBC’s Dateline Thursday Mysteries is taking over the Thursday slots held by Aquarius and Hannibal; the low-rated dramas move to Saturday. Aquarius, renewed for season two, will air at 9p. Hannibal, searching for a new home, wraps its run at 10p.
Spike is expanding its scripted projects slate with five new series. World War III, from exec producer Bryan Singer, focuses on America’s Heartland becoming Occupied Territory; horror series Bad Medicine centers on a man in pain who is miraculously cured by an unconventional doctor; Hummel & Howe showcases the wild cases of two criminals desperate to escape their past; Mr. In Between focuses on a high-stakes courier, and Secret America, set in the near future, explores a society where the threat of terrorism has turned the US government into an autocratic state.
To celebrate National Nude Day (July 14, you missed it!) and kick off the second season of Dating Naked: Playing for Keeps, VH1 teamed with creative agency Mistress to create a new video featuring couples in the buff. A follow-up to last year’s Internet sensation Dancing Naked, the "Love is in the Air" video showcases pairs of all shapes and sizes, demonstrating that love comes in many forms. Dating Naked launches Wednesday, July 22 at 9p.
A+E Networks has partnered with the New York Television Festival to launch a program that will identify outstanding new writers and producers for potential development opportunities with A&E, History, Lifetime, FYI and H2. Dubbed Create360, the program builds on the longtime unscripted partnership between the NYTVF and A+E Networks.
AXS TV acquired popular web series Exploring Kaman. All six episodes of the reality/adventure show starring NBA all-star Chris Kaman and his entourage as they embark on an epic fishing trip begin airing Wednesday, August 5 at 11p.
KSE Media Ventures reeled in a 100 percent interest in World Fishing Network LLC. It joins Outdoor Sportsman Group Networks, whose portfolio includes Outdoor Channel and Sportsman Channel.

Bravo renewed Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spin-off Vanderpump Rules for a season four. The restaurant-set reality show, which wrapped its season three with reunion episodes in March, is produced by Evolution Media.
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team returns for season ten on Thursday, August 6 at 11p. CMT will run a marathon of the reality show’s season 9 Sunday, August 2 from 12p-8p.
Sony Pictures and Nelvana are teaming for an animated TV series version of the big screen’s Hotel Transylvania, set to launch in 2017. Rick Mischel of Sony Pictures Animation will exec produce with Nelvana’s Colin Bohm and Irene Weibel. Sony Pictures Television will handle U.S. distribution while Nelvana distributes globally.
ABC Family has ordered a second season of Stitchers, the network’s first procedural. “Fans are enjoying the camaraderie of the Stitchers team and a lead character that is unapologetically smart, focused and a great role model to young women,” said Karey Burke, EVP, programming and development. Summer finale airs Tuesday, August 4 at 9p.
Esquire Network greenlit a fourth season of raucous cooking competition Knife Fight. Production begins mid-July at series judge Ilan Hall’s Brooklyn-based restaurant, The Gorbals.
Barbecue kingpin Aaron Frankln‘s new series BBQ with Franklin has been picked up by Create TV. The show, which premiered on PBS this summer, will air its entire 10-episode run air as a two-week programming block beginning Monday, August 3 at 6:30p.
Three billion miles after takeoff, PBS’s NOVA will air the New Horizons spacecraft’s historic Pluto flyby tonight at 9p. One hour special NOVA: Chasing Pluto will be on site to capture first-ever close-up images as they’re beamed to Earth.
Leah Remini and her loud, loving family return to TLC for a new season of Leah Remini: It’s All Relative on Wednesday, July 15 at 9p. The premiere episode opens with the clan supporting Sophia’s nanny Trish, who has been battling breast cancer.
A reboot of word association game show Chain Reaction premieres Thursday, July 16 at 9p on GSN. The half-hour show, which originally debuted in the 1980s, features two teams to complete a chain of seven words.
Univision’s “Premios Juventud” Youth Awards 2015 airs Thursday, July 16 at 8p. Presenters include Cristian de la Fuente, Paulina Goto, Adriana Louvier, Fanny Lu, Michael Pena and Marjorie de Sousa, as well as Univision TV and radio hosts Enrique Santos and Rodolfo “El Chamo” Soules.
Parenthood alum Peter Krause is set to star in the new Shonda Rhimes series The Catch. He replaces Damon Dayoub, who played the male lead in the pilot.
Isaac Hempstead-Wright is returning to Game of Thrones when the series’ sixth season debuts on HBO. “I can’t say a lot, but I am back this season, and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran … he has some interesting visions,” the actor told the Irish Examiner.

The BBC director-general Tony Hall defended the corporation’s programming against claims it relies too heavily on entertainment, versus public service. “I believe the BBC should continue to make programmes for everyone,” said Hall, pointing to the success of dramas like Wolf Hall, The Missing and Poldark. “A BBC that doesn’t inform, educate and entertain is not the BBC the public know and love.”

Bravo’s Real Housewives of Orange County hit a season 10 high on Monday, July 6 with 2.8 million total viewers and 1.7 million among P18-49, according to Nielsen Live+3 data. Odd Mom Out posted week-over-week gains of 24 percent in total viewers, to 1.1 million, and 32 percent among P25-54, to 749,000 versus the week prior.
DIY Network‘s premiere of Salvage Dawgs on Sunday, July 12 ranked as the highest-rated and most-watched episode of the series. In addition, it was a Top 5 rated telecast of the year on DIY among P25-54 ratings. More than 1.2 million viewers tuned in to DIY on Sunday night, helping the network grow 50 percent versus year ago levels.
Miss USA 2015 was the most viewed telecast ever on REELZ for W18-34 and ranks as the second highest premiere night in network history behind The Kennedys miniseries. The pageant garnered 2.5 million total viewers on premiere night, which included a live telecast and an encore presentation immediately following. The Miss USA 2015 premiere night telecasts received a 1.26 gross household coverage area rating.
The ladies of the VH1‘s Basketball Wives: LA kicked off a fourth season on Sunday, July 12, ranking as the top cable telecast of the day among women, averaging a 1.9 in the W18-49 demo.
