Fox News led news nets in 2Q17 with an average 472,000 primetime viewers A25-54, versus 389,000 for MSNBC and 370,000 for CNN. And while Bill O’Reilly replacement Tucker Carlson makes significantly less than his predecessor, points out the Wall Street Journal, Carlson has boosted the net’s share of the news demo, grabbing 21% more in ad dollars per 30-second spot.
The premiere of FX’s Snowfall delivered 1.3 million viewers A18-49 in Live+3 numbers, and 2.24 million total viewers. Counting two encore telecasts for the night and digital viewership, the number jumps to 3.23 million total viewers.
Bravo was the #6 ad-supported cable net among P18-49 and P25-54 in 2Q17, and year-to-date is the #1 cable network for video on demand, with 57.1 million viewers on set-top box, up +22% versus the prior year. Sister net Oxygen boasts it’s the fastest-growing cable entertainment net among total viewers in total day in 2017 YTD, up +51% year over year.
CBS game show Candy Crush premiered to a 1.1 rating among A18-49 and 4.1 million viewers on Sunday, according to Nielsen overnights.

EXECUTIVE MOVES
Adam Symson becomes President and CEO of The E.W. Scripps Company on Tuesday, August 8. The company’s board of directors set that date for the CEO transition from Rich Boehne, who will continue as Scripps chairman.
Brie Miranda Bryant has joined Lifetime as Senior Vice President, Unscripted Development and Programming. Bryant was most recently SVP, Development and Production for BET Networks.
Keith Turner is retiring as President of Ad Sales at Univision at the end of 2017. Turner has been in the position since 2012. “Keith is a uniquely talented individual who has been a friend and an inspiring leader to all who have had the opportunity to work with him,” said Randy Falco, President and CEO of Univision Communications. No successor has been named.
Ownzones Media Network appointed Nick Nelson as Head of Product Innovation. Nelson had served as Head of Product Creative at Netflix before founding Technically Creative in 2016.
Warner Bros. Digital Networks hired Eric Besner as Senior Vice President, Business Development; Greg Salter as Senior Vice President, Business and Strategic Planning; and Katie Soo as Senior Vice President, Marketing. All three will report to Jay Levine, Executive Vice President, Warner Bros. Digital Networks.

Actor Ji-Tu Cumbuka died July 4 after a long illness. He was 77. In addition to appearing in 1977’s Roots, Cumbuka’s television work included CIS, Knots Landing and Walker, Texas Ranger.
